I'm 14 days out and I get weak as well.... I did walk a mile today and my legs are extremely sore. Are you eating enough??

Are you getting all your fluids in? All your Protein? Taking your Vitamins & supplements? It's not uncommon to be tired after surgery. I found a needed a nap anytime I went out for the first 2 -3 weeks. If you are following your doctors recommendations then take it easy and give your body time to adjust.

Your body is still adjusting to having much less calorie intake than before the surgery. Just make sure you drink plenty of fluids so you do not dehydrate. If it continues, please contact your surgeon and they may want to see you.

this was major surgery...my internist told me it takes about months for tummy to heal. your body is using most everything to heal. it took me 6 months to start getting my strength back, literally. its going to take time. its a process. keep up the fluids and Protein as much as possible. pace yourself if its possible. hang in there..:)

I'm 5 weeks and still really light-headed. In fact I passed out last week and banged my head on the floor. Big bump. The nutrionist suggested lots of chicken broth.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
