Pre op day 13- Need advice!

Recommended Posts

So today is my pre-op day 13- with surgery on Friday!

Since Monday, I have almost no hunger. Maybe it's me not wanting the shakes, but I'm almost forcing them down. In fact, it's 1:00pm and I just realized that I've only had one shake today.

i'm barely making the NUT's minimum Protein requirement. Is this normal? Should I not drink the shake if I don't feel hungry, or should I drink them no matter what?

I was told it was more important to hit my fluid goals than my Protein goals those first few weeks. You absolutely must stay hydrated or things will not go well. If I got one shake a day in I was happy.

This is very normal with the liquid Protein diet. It's ok to drink the minimum number of shakes you need to meet your Protein requirements and not get extra. Make sure you get your Water in and stay hydrated!

Good luck with your surgery!

I was kind of the same way on pre-op. No hunger and didn't drink all my shakes. They wanted me to have 3/day but I only really needed 2 to get all my Protein in.

I was told Protein and Water were important for your hair and skin elasticity, so for those reasons alone I'm forcing them down. I'm on my pre op diet as well, not quite as far along as you are. I would just encourage you to stick to the recommendations as closely as possible. The best to you!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
