counting calories and carbs?

Recommended Posts

I know we're taught to reach goals for Protein and Water, and I meet that every day. Is anyone counting calories and carbs? If so what are you limiting them to.

For instance, MY Fitness pal has me on 1600 calories a day in order to loose 2 lbs per week. I have been keeping it below that, around 1000-1200, but never really traced carbs. I'm not eating much in the way of carbs, but yogurt, cottage cheese and most foods have some amount.

Thanks in advance

Carbs are like crack to me, so I limit them as much as possible. I try to keep my net carbs under 10 per meal, but will also add some low glycemic carbs in moderation (fresh--no canned--black Beans and lentils, for example). No rice, no bread, no Pasta, no potato, no sugar.

I don't specifically count calories every day, but I do weigh my food to keep it under my sleeve size. On the days when I track calories, I've been between 800-1100.

I count calories and I limit carbs. Carbs are also very addicting to me to. I am at goal and I still can only eat about 800 calories a day and I am still losing. I am trying to get my calories up so I stop losing now. I will always count calories. I use MFP also but I set my own calories. I change mine manually, I also manually set my Protein goals on MFP.

I'm 3.5 months out from surgery and always count my carbs. Only allowed 30gm per day. 70gm Protein per day. At 4m I can increase to 40gm carbs per day because I will finally be allowed some fruit.

My dietician's recommendations are 20 grams of carbs, 800-1200kcals per day. More calories are allowed if you are exercising at an extreme, but by her counseling only. This is pretty much a quote!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
