Am I drinking too fast?

Recommended Posts

I am day 6 post op. I couldn't even handle the ice chips on day 2, they gave me foamies. The 3rd morning I was able to slowly take little sips of Water with an occasional burp like pressure, and by the 3rd evening could just sip on any clear liquid with no problems at all.

The last 3 days I can sip and finish a 20 oz bottle within an hour or 2. (an ounce every 3-5 minutes?) I don't feel any pain, pressure, or burpy feeling at all. I am easily getting in 60-80 oz of fluids. Is it possible to drink to much or too fast and not know it? Or is just trickling through at the rate that I am sipping it? I don't want to hurt my new tummy.

Thank you Elode! I guess people don't tend to post about it NOT being an issue, I will just sip away then.

6 day post op i think you should slow down with your drinking

take small sips :)

this is possibly the only time we say don't drink too much at a time :o

or too much for the day since you are drinking slowly

i am pretty sure that post op "for a while, few weeks" i was told to take sips of Water very slowly

NUT told me i could gradually drink more at a time til i could gulp :)

when time has past drink so much Water up to your eyeballs ;)

the more the better :)

@@Elode and others

i get my 64 - 96 oz,

you'll hear good answers to many questions :)

we're all very smart ;)

at the end of the day

always listen to your NUT

good luck bud

continued good recovery :)

@proudgrammy Thanks. I will make sure I am taking small sips. I have really had a great recovery so far, just a little tired but I know that will get better every day.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
