Excited and so happy with my sleeve

Recommended Posts

I started my journey at 268 lbs and today I am 170 lbs. my survey was 9/11/14. It has been awesome. My energy level. My ability to just move. Yesterday I went to Old navy and tried on a size 12 pair of jeans and they were to big. I am happy to say. I walked out with the size 10. I have never been able to fit a size 10. My next NSV will be running the Susan Koman 5k here in Philadelphia this Mother's Day. I thank God everyday for giving me the courage to decide to have this surgery.

I need to hear this! I am scheduled for sleeve surgery on March 31st, and although I've done a ton of research and I am excited, the "worries" are starting to kick in. Will I have horrible GERD afterwards; will I lose too much hair; will I be one of the unlucky ones who suffer all kinds of complications??? I'm trying to stay positive, but posts like yours encourage me!!! What was the hardest part of being sleeved?

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
