Had first fill on 05/24...already feel like I need another

Recommended Posts

I have the VG 11 band and at the time of surgery I was told I had 1 cc put in, on May 24th they put in another 2 for a total of 3cc's.

The first couple of days after the fill I could tell I was really restricted, PB'd twice in two days after the fill.

However now I feel like I'm not getting little to no restriction now, even feel more hungry as the days go by even though I haven't changed my eating habits and I was staying full for awhile after I first got that fill....

AIGB in Richardson scheduled me for my next fill not until July 5th. Is this normal to have to wait so long in between fills?? :)

All doctors are different when it comes to fills. Mine likes to wait 3 weeks in between fills. It took me 5 fills to get good restriction. Hang in there you will find your sweet spot. Everyone is different and it may take a few more fills to get there!

Good Luck!

i feel the same way. I was banded on 3/12/07. i feel very little restriction. I have had 2 fills, 6 weeks apart, for a total of 2.2 cc in a 10 cc band. I am getting disscouraged that this seems to be taking a long time to see any results.

I was banded on 4/24 and got my first fill last week (1.4) and am in the same boat. i felt slightly more restricted initially but feel less restriction now than before the fill. I have so little restriction that I was nervous my band had slipped. I too am so disappointed, feeling like i was hoping to be pounds lighter by now and instead, I think I've acutally gained a few!:)

My doc recommended if no weight loss in 2 weeks to call for another fill. I actually felt no restriction at all and got another fill. Now it's better.

I look at the first fill as a "baby step", with not a lot of difference, but as you know, all people are different. I think it's better not to jump into too much restriction too fast..it really is a learning process and I'm still learning.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
