I am thinking about having this done and I was wondering I don't have a gall bladder and I was wondering if the hurts you for this surgery. and I also produce kidney stones and I was wondering if anyone else has this trouble because I am supposed to drink lots of water.:help:

I had my gall bladder removed 8 years ago. Had my LB surgery in March...no problems or restrictions if you don't have one! Not sure about kidney stones, sorry.

Attend a local seminar about the lap-band procedure. They are very informative...or surf here also. This site is very educational.

I had my gallbladder out 4 years before my banding and it wasn't an issue. For that matter, DH just had his out last week, almost 3 years after his banding and that wasn't an issue either.

I'm not sure about kidney stones either, but I do know I drink a lot of Water throughout the day.

I had my gallbladder out about 20 years ago and had no problems with the lapband surgery. I was concerned about the Water drinking because I'm prone to bladder infections and have to drink a lot of water...I have no problem drinking a glass every 15-30 minutes just like before.

Hi, I had my lapband done last year. I had my gallbladder out about 10yrs. earier and can say you have no worries with that. I also get kidney stones. Have had them off and on for years, in fact I had to have surgery last year to have one removed. That was about 1 month before I had my lapband done. I just recently had another stone stuck, but thank God it passed right before my surgery date. Whew! The kidney stones will not effect your band at all.

good-luck

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
