Sudden onset of heartburn at 15 months?

Recommended Posts

For the most part, I haven't had to touch anything except the occasional Tums since about a month out. Now, suddenly, I have heartburn every day even though how much I eat and the type of food I eat hasn't really changed all that much over the last six months.

Is it common for heartburn to just kick in late?? Its kind of annoying, so any suggestions on getting rid of it that don't involve Prilosec (expensive where I live) would be great!

Our stomachs do not understand that at least 80% of our stomachs were removed., and continues to make acid as if it were a whole stomach.

Most sleevers are on an acid blocker. Do you have a costco there? You can get the generic of an acid blocker for pretty cheap. If you have insurance, just tell your doctor to prescribe and acid blocker.

There are some sleevers who have revised to a gastric bypass because their acid problems were really bad and could not be controlled by medicine.

Are you now eating later at night?

Read this article written by a physician who treats patients with acid reflux:

Yes it is very common. I had the same thing and had to go on the strongest PPI and it still has not helped. So my bariatric recommended a surgery called stretta. They go in through the month and sort of shrink wrap the part that connects your esophagus and stomach. My insurance is covering it. Thank God because my meds I am on are really expensive $350 after insurance and the discount plan offered by the manufacturer for a 90 day supply. And it still doesn't work.

Plus, I don't like the idea of being on a med that makes your bones brittle. I am hoping this is work.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
