May 8. I do feel better using a doctor in mexico though they seem more experienced. Are You Going To Dr Maytorena?

Yes, I am going to Dr. M. Mr. Ruben needs to get me my work papers or I'll have to wait longer....grrrrr

Thanks Lisa for the update!

Please keep us posted.

I just had my sleeve done with Dr M last night. I am still at the surgery center, feeling amazing! No pain except for some gas. I should be heading to the recovery house soon, then flying home to NY tomorrow night.

Ruben, Dr M, and all the staff here are very friendly, and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone!

Did you have to do a pre-op diet?

I just returned from Tijuana after being sleeved by Dr. Maytorena. I am tired as I literally just got home but I will make it a point to provide an update of how my surgery went.

i noticed that you were still or seemed undecided in the first week of March on your choice of Doctor. Where you having doubts are choose doctor M. At the last minute

I am a huge researcher and made my decision rather quickly but had been researching many surgeons during my process.  Dr. M was fabulous and I am pretty much healed up.  No pain and weight is coming off.  I have been working since a week post op with no issues whatsoever.

I have decided to go with Dr Arellano and will be scheduling with him the beginning of May. I am excited He is a leader in bariatric surgery and has over 15yrs experience. I am excited he has done over 1000 surgeries and I think worked with Dr Aceves. Im excited an know with all his years of experience I will be ok because I was getting freaked out about possible complications. But im going through ltvsg (long term vsg). I know @@Chrissyg had the surgery with them and all seemed well but with Dr Jorge Maytorena. Any input comments or people who know of them would be greatly appreciated!

Hi Aliyah,

I applied for surgery with long term vsg last week. I've read really good things about Dr. Arellano and Dr. Maytorena. I am planning on having my sleeve at the end of June. The reviews are great and the price is just unbelievable. Share your experience and good luck!!

Hello,

I am new here, and I would like to start a topic on long term vsg in Tijuana for support. I just scheduled my surgery for June. I am nervous and excited at the same time. If you have or will have your surgery with them, please share your story! I am traveling from Phoenix Arizona! :)

Yes the reviews are great and so is the price because the facility is so mall, you won't stay at a hotel. They have very very low complication rate also no deaths so that another plus.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!
