I'm not in Dublin (I'm in Paris) but my experience has been there are fewer and fewer support services for bandsters because fewer bands are being placed. This is a bit scary to me, because we all need to call in support teams from time to time (not to mention band issues....who is going to help us if we show up in an ER and no one knows what to do with a slipped or prolapsed band? My biggest fear is having a band problem while traveling (I used to travel a lot, not so much anymore) and finding myself in a city where lapbands had been supplanted by other WLS.

Do you actually have to go to Belgium for your fills? Yikes.

There are several bandsters on here that are in London. It's not close, but it's not that far, either. I might suggest you see what resources there are in London, for example.

Thanks for the reply @@parisshel ,, i have been quite lucky with the band so far i got the minimizer band so its sewn to my stomack so cant slip thank god! I have had 1 bad experiance were i ended up in A&E and my god i was waiting 9+ hours to be seen it was traumatising but ended up being food stuck when it passed the band :/ so just on Fiber gel and liquids for a few days :)

i still travel but always carry a few tabs like anti bloating, pain killers, fiber filled gel and hydration suppliments incase anything does ever go wrong!

Oh and no my doc comes to a clinic in dublin once a month and has a nurse on call for emergency defills :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
