I'm 22 years old going to be going under the knife on April 2nd and was wondering if anyone want to be each other's support system. A little bit about me I'm a pilot by trade during the summer and I drive trucks during the winter. I'm getting the gastric sleave surgery.

Bro, I got you. I had my surgery Dec 23rd 2014. I'm an engineer for the Army (contractor) and have plenty of time to answer questions or talk. I'm 27 in Texas so feel free to contact me whenever with questions and ill answer usually asap.

I'm starting a "pre liquid diet beta" lolz. I decided it's best if I try it out so I know what to expect. Starting tomorrow

Cpt.Brady, I'm 24 also interested in the sleeve. Definitely looking for support during this time of planning and pre and post op. I'm planning on mid April to get the sleeve if it's available. Otherwise the beginning of may.

I chose the sleeve because it's less invasive. Also, down the road if something happens to me and I need to take certain medications, my doctor said you have more option with taking pills with the sleeve over the bypass. Just a few reasons why I chose the sleeve.

Hi all I am 25 from the UK and was sleeved on 17th March and I can honestly say it was the best thing I have ever done. . It is difficult as the cravings that are in your head are still there but if you are strong you can do well. So far I have lost 3 stone which is more then I expected. Good luck to all those going for the surgery and if anyone wants to ask any questions or needs any support contact me

I chose the sleeve because I did not want my gut rerouted with a bypass, and did not want a port in my belly with a band.

That's the same reason I chose the sleeve... less complications and similar results

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
