Hello All - My Big Surgery Day is Monday Feb 23rd!

Recommended Posts

I just joined this group and I have really enjoyed reading all the posts. Very useful information here. I hope that I can contribute as well to others as you all have done for me. My surgery is this coming Monday. I had the Lapband which was an absolute failure. I had that taken out about 7 months ago in preparation for this! Nervous, anxious, excited...all at once.

Hey there. Good luck with your surgery. Im so nervous also buy anxious as heck! Anyway, i have a lapband currently and want to revise to gastric just waiting on insurance approval. And im also hoping that it can be done all at once. I would hate to wait so long to have the revison. Anyway, why did you have to wait so long? Was it a stipulation of insurance or just doctors orders? Anyway, good luck hun. This site has been really helpful to me so far. Hope you are finding to useful also.

Hi Kiki,

My surgeon said that he wanted to give it at least 6 months for the stomach to return to "normal", as as close as possible. He, and others, have found they have less chance for issues such as leaks, etc. if you wait at least 6 months. Makes sense. Good luck to you too!

Good luck and congrats on taking steps toward being healthy. I was thinking of having the band by my surgeon and I discussed it and thought bypass would be best for my lifestyle and goals.

Keep us posted on your recovery and progress!

Congrats on your upcoming date!!! I remember the exciting anticipation. I hope you are resting. The day before my procedure I did a lot of busy work like cleaning and laundry because I knew I'd be out of commission for a while. I pray that your surgery is 20 times better than you expect and anything you heard. God bless you.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
