Can't eat anything... Help!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone I am 10 days post op. I am allowed Full liquid which includes yogurt, pudding, andhot Cereal and creamed Soups. But I cannot eat anything! A few bites and I feel like I'm full. I can't even take my chewable vitamins without feeling very very full. Has this happened to anybody else? I feel like I'm going to be anorexic but not by choice.

Can you try to describe exactly how you are feeling when you eat something?

I had a friend with the sleeve (I have the band) And he said he had swelling for about 3 weeks. It got better but IMO you may need to get your mind set on you will not be eating much for some time. Not sure if this will help.

I'm in the same position. It has taken me all day to drink 16 oz Water and 3 oz Protein. 2 teaspoons and I full up into my throat.

100% normal. I couldn't get down an entire Protein Shake over the course of a day until week out, much less two. It took me a month to hit 300 calories a day and I stuck there until about three months.

I bet it's just the swelling is still bad and as it goes down you will tolerate more. Maybe mine didn't stay swollen long and that's the difference. I sure hope you feel better soon though.

I agree, i'm lucky I can at least tolerate the shake, speaking of which i'm tired of consuming it. it tastes so differently now that I'm post op.

I also had surgery 9 days ago, it takes me forever to take my Protein shakes down, and probaby 3 teaspoons of Soup and i'm full. I have to wait 30 minutes to take my meds before I eat or drink rather. l was assured this is all normal.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
