non-parishable foods/snacks during work?

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I'm almost 2 months out and I'm having a hard time making sure I'm eating enough calories. My job is incredibly stressful/time consuming so I'd like to have a couple of Snacks in my drawer so I can make sure I'm eating a little something every few hours.

I'd love any recommendations! So far I've been having 1/2 an oatmeal packet in the morning, a ham/cheese roll up for lunch, and then a string cheese. Then I go home and have a piece of chicken or fish. It only totals to about 500 calories.

So yes - any recommendations are appreciated! I seem to be able to tolerate most things but I'd love advice.

Also, I have only lost 3 pounds in the last month. I lost very quickly the first three weeks after surgery, and nothing since! Could it be because I'm not eating or drinking enough?

My favorite non perishable items would be almonds or Quest Nutrition Protein Bars ( White Choc Raspberry, Cookies and Creme or Choc Chip Cookie Dough).

Although I am still in pre-op but my main observation is you need more Protein and make sure you are getting your Water.< /p>

I feel your pain girlfriend i too am 2 months out and have only lost 6lbs in the last month compared to 40 in the first month. I'm trying to hit my Protein on most days but i was worried because my calories are close to 700 when i do. I thought that my calories might be what has stalled my weight loss

Dannon fit and light GREEK yogurt - 12 g Protein - low sugar

Cottage cheese and fruit

Nuts of any kind that you can eat

Quest Protein Bars - available online

Pure Protein bars (available at Target, Walmart and lots of grocery stores)

I also kept chicken salad/tuna salad in little 2 oz containers I bought from the grocery in a lunch box I could freeze the night before.

I hope this helps :)

The tuna packs are a great idea. They're so packed with Protein. I have 4 ounces of tuna for lunch almost every day.

The Quest bars are also a great idea. I have one every day for Breakfast, but be aware that they don't work for everyone. Some people find they are too dense, and a few people have reported that they spike their blood sugar. Some people find they stall when they have Protein bars.

i also keep beef Jerky at work, and have an ounce daily for my morning snack. I also keep some almonds, and I'll have a few in the afternoon if I fell I need something.

I keep some shelf-stable Protein Drinks in the closet in my classroom. If I feel like I need something, I'll have one of those. I get the EAS Advantedge lowcarb ones, they're either 100 or 110 calories. Everything else I eat comes in a lunchbag with an icepack.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
