I' failing,and ashamed...please help

Recommended Posts

I was sleeved in June 2011 I weighed 246 and got down to 163. I am now at 193! I am in a panic ... I can't go back. I begin every day in my pre surgery mode...today I will stay on track. I just do't know if I know what on track is. You know the saying pride.toeth before the fall....well part of me is too proud and part to ashamed to go back to the bari office and admitted failure.

If you are willing to guide me or tell me where to find the tools to reboot I would be very thankful.

I would encourage you to go back to the bari office. They know your history, we don't. You can try going back to basic; food journal, Protein first, then veg. The food journal will help you see exactly what you are eating and how much. Especially if you are honest with yourself. From there you can develop a plan of action.

Pride is not your friend. Go see your doctor.

And you are not a failure! The only way you'd be a failure is if you gave up & continued down this path that made you gain the 30 pounds. You've already started to take back control by posting here. Keep it going by contacting your Bari center. Take care!

You are already on the right path again. You reached out and asked for help and support. And if you are following the suggestions of others, you will go back to your Bari Dr. You are not the first person they have seen get off track. They want you to succeed (as much as we on this site do as well). Let them help you.

Your situation feels familiar to me with all my past challenges with food. I'm only a month post -surgery and already a small voice in my head has been encouraging me to have just a little chocolate or Cookies. And while other veterans on this site can incorporate a taste of of their favorites, I'm not remotely close to putting my toe in that pool. ( too much of a slippery slope for me. )

Well anyway I told a fellow sleever about the voice. She gave me a tool that has been helping me get rid of the "cheat" voice. She named it my Rat voice. Every time I hear/feel that voice I visualize a nasty rat on my shoulder and I have a quick conversation with it. I tell it to get the H--- off and other things well, things I can't repeat here. You get the idea. A short talk really helps me redirect my thoughts and keeps me on my path. Maybe your rat needs to be ripped a new one.

You can do this. Good luck!!!

I agree with the others ... hiding out is for the birds. You've spoken your truth here. And good on you!

Now, go see your doctor to be accountable there and to invite the support he/she and the team there can give you, too.

This is the real life we'll all get to live. We will always have to lose weight we've regained. Even my skinniest friends have to do this. :) Now it's your turn to learn and practice those re-losing skills.

You CAN do this.

:)

Bariatric doctors are not there to judge you, they are there to help you. Believe me, they've seen this a thousand times. And they'd rather see you now, than in another 30 pounds or more. Also, if there are bariatric support groups in your area, I'd suggest going to them. There will be other folks who are also struggling with their journey and together you can inspire each other to get back on the horse. Good luck! You've taken the first step, now, and we all wish you great success in re-establishing your program!!!

While I agree with the others that you should go back to our bari office for insight, I understand why you wouldn't want to just yet.

Something I recommended to a friend when she got off track was to try to reset her metabolism by going back to the pre-op liquid diet for several days to a week. She lost 7 pounds after a week and has been eating less since then.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks
