New Here, Lots Of Questions

Ok I have just decided in the past few weeks that I want/need to get the lapband done. I have a friend in south carolina who had it done in decemeber and it has gone well for her.

I have a few questions for people here in phoenix.

1. Does anyone have APIPA insurance and if so how long will I have to have a medically supervised diet?

2. IF have to do it self pay is it going to be about 16,000 total?

3. Are most primary care physicians helpful? I am nervous about suggesting it to my primary care physician. My BMI is 42 so I would think that would be bad enough. If she does not does anyone have a suggestion for PCP's in North Phoenix?

Another thing have any of you found that people say "Oh that's the easy way out" etc?

I know this might sound crazy but I have been overweight for years and years but just a few weeks ago is when it finally hit me. I never thought of myself as the fat girl but on the other hand I am very self concious. Anyway I think the final straw has been my hip and lower back hurting constantly and I went to an exhibit last weekend and needed to sit down before we got back to the car. And the last was when I calculated my BMI on the internet and found that I am considered Morbidly Obese.

I know this all sounds crazy.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated..

Nicole

Hey that is wayyy funny! Will work for fills! You are correct it will be a good deduction. I did have to pay about $2,000.00 out of pocket and that hurt enough. But I always have a medical deduction each year. I have medical conditon unrelated to weight. That is why I had 5 years of documented medical records that stated my weight.

Hi Everyone,

I was just browsing this post, and everyone seems to be mentioning the Fill costs.. there is a lady that comes to Mesa every month and does fills for $100.00! she also works with Fill-Centers-USA, and my doctor personally recommended her to me.. I have her number, if anyone wants it.

Also, I was just informed that Dr. Simpson of Phoenix has a program were you pay a one time fee of 400.00 and you get to go to his support groups, his nutritionist, and he will fill you up for 100.00 as well..

hope this helps!

Still trying to find the money to get mine done. I found a website called prosper.com. Its a place where the company checks your credit and address and stuff and then you put up a posting about how much money you want (1000-25000) and what the highest percentage rate you would pay. People (lenders) look at them and can see your rating as far as credit goes. Its AA,A,B,C,D,E, HR each category is determined by certain credit scores. AA being the best. HR being High Risk. Anyway people can loan anywhere from 50 on up. The company takes care of getting the money back to the lenders.

Anyway I have put mine up there and we will see. If anyone wants to check it out tell them phoenixwife@yahoo.com sent ya. If you use them we both get like 25 bucks. That's 25 closer to my band!!!

Have a nice day and happy filling!!
