Scale has not moved. Why am I still dropping in size?

Recommended Posts

Am I overreacting? I am at a healthy BMI.....

I'm approaching 8 months out. I was a jean size 5/6 at 140. I am working with a trainer. I have reduced cardio and concentrating on weight lifting. I am adding carb's. I get about 1000 calories in. I'm still bouncing around 140's . I'm now a jean size 1/2 and my husband say's my face is looking skeletal. I want to look healthy not sickly.

I still freak out when the scale moves up. My head is messed up from being morbidly obese.......This situation is also messing with me.

If you are doing weight training now, then you are likely building muscle. Muscle is much denser than fat. So if you still weigh the same but your body fat percentage is dropping, then you will become leaner. A 140 pound person with 17% body fat is much "thinner" than a 140 pound person with 25% body fat.

Thanks. I feel more relaxed about this.

I found a body fat calculator on the web.

It's the best I can do for now. My question is how do you get body measurements with the bariatric loose skin issue?

I'm at a 24% body fat (with my loose skin measurements)The average body fat percentage for U.S. females is around 32%, with the ideal at 22%. Athletic females should be around 15-20%.

Your trainer may have a more accurate way of calculating your body fat percentage.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
