to gain 10 pounds in 10 days, you need to be eating an EXCESS of 3500 calories a day. Your current 1500-1700 just cannot possibly get you there. Your best bet is to increase calories as much as you possibly can and then the couple of days before your weigh-in, eat LOTS of high-sodium foods so you retain Water. You can probably gain a good 5 pounds at least from water retention.

yeah, seriously dieting to gain weigh is like shooting yourself with a bow and arrow, not likely to happen. If you wantthe no fail weight gain? drink a few full flavored beers especially darks. those will get you there in no time ohand to help those go down, try Fettuccini alfredo. youll get there in no time.

Steve, hilarious! I was wondering the same thing. Why on earth, when you're overweight and trying to qualify for a surgery that could and will change your life, would you NOW become a health nut! LOL If you need to gain 10 pounds in 10 days I'm sure you remember how it's done. Now, go little grasshopper, to the store and get er done! LOL Oh, and enjoy because that will be the last time you eat that much volume! I was sleeved a month ago and am down 42 pounds and would have eaten whatever I needed to gain weight.

Best wishes to you.

Your 158 lbs? I can only dream of being that size!

If your a healthy eater, is getting the sleeve really what you need to switch to..seems the band is working just fine for you.

Just curious is all.

Rolls of coins in your pockets? Sew fishing weights into your hems? Wear your heaviest boots and coat? Definitely drink a TON of Water before they weigh you.

I am sure there are more tricks!

Yeah if I were you I would hide some slim weights in your shoes or your bra. Trying to gain so much weight in 10 days may not be great for your health. Or like the previous poster said -- put a few rolls of coins in a pocket. Or have a super salty meal the night before. Good luck! These stupid insurance companies make me crazy getting in the way of personal medical choices.

Ha, these tips are great! I have my first consult in two weeks but I have lost over 11lb through dieting the last couple of weeks and I only have to lose another 3lb for my BMI to drop under 40. I obviously don't want to sabotage the diet and put weight back on, but I want to be able to present the best possible case for getting surgery.

I had been thinking of weights in my bra, a big meal beforehand, and drinking lots of Water - I am taking note of all these ideas. What a stupid predicament, lol.

Good luck, OP - let me know what works for you :)

My doc always weighs me without shoes on. Wear loose pants, and get some of the ankle weights that you can buckle around your ankles.

If you are prediabetic, you shouldn't need to have a BMI of 40, you need a BMI of 35. And ankle weights are going to get you busted.

Maybe but they have to catch you first. We pay all this money to insurance companies and to be penalized because you are just a few pounds off from the arbitrary number they decided they will cover... Sorry I would hide weights wherever I could (get creative, people).

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
