So it's not a horribble idea? What about all the unwanted babies that would be born...all the young girls getting pregnant? What would we do then???

Have babies. What's so bad about that? There are alot of people who would love to care for those unwanted babies.

So which bc methods are acceptable? Condoms and cevical caps? Get real! That is ridiculous! You are against sex ed...because when I say sex ed I mean taught at school...And where do you get off saying WE...again you thinking you speak for all pro lifers just like you speak for ALL christian like you speak for God...come on...not ALL pro lifers or christians share your point of view!!!

Condoms, IUDs, abstinence till married. Those would work. No, not all share my point of view. But alot do.

The doctor who was murdered because he performed abortions was a sad story. And the vast majority of prolifers do not advocate violence. 2 wrongs don't make anything right. The murderer needs the death penalty. He had no right to murder anyone, and he should suffer the consequences of his actions. It is because of people like him, that all christians will be hated for their stand on sinful issues in the end times. I see it as one step closer to Jesus' return.

Maybe you should do more research cause the IUD makes it so the egg cannot implant. That is unrealistic Patty!

Tell that to all the kids in group homes and foster care...tell that to the crack babies...the kids born HIV positive

The egg that already had the sperm reach it? I thought the IUD kept the sperm from reaching the egg. If that's true, then the IUD as well should be eliminated.

Yea, we can all use very unreliable methods of birth control, that will solve it!! Or we can wait until we are married to have sex and use no birth control at all and then have 15 kids like our granparents did!!

By the way, I am a christian and I believe in the right to choose.

I am glad for you that you are a christian; yet, not so glad that you wouldn't take the time to read what your God tells you about life in the womb from the bible. I am, of course, assuming that you haven't read the bible, because anyone that has read it in its entirety would know that God would not approve of ending a life that he allowed to begin.

It's first goal is to prevent sperm from reaching the egg, but if a sperm does get by it prevents the egg from sticking to the wall...

And where in your bible does your god tell you that abortion is wrong? I presented you with scripture and quotes that contradict that...so what now?

I have read the Bible many times, thank you. I have not read where the Bible states that it is wrong. As with many things, the Bible is not clear on a lot of topics, abortion included.

By the way, I read a story today about a study that was done recently that stated that girls who attend religious schools were more likely to have an abortion than girls attending public schools. I will try to find the link.

I've heard that before too...a lot of the girls that I knew that grew up in strictly religious homes/schools were doing drugs/smoking/drinking and having sex at younger ages than me and my public school/not very religious friends

I just watched a man speak who is a former anti-abortion activist who sat in counsel with people like Pat Robertson and they advised people like Bush on the abortion issue. He is apologizing tonight for all the things he did and said that he feels are responsible for inciting the fringe idiots to do the things they have done like marching on abortion clinics, intimidating women outside those clinics and the murders of Tiller and others.

He believes that the irrational talk that the Republicans are doing to discredit President Obama and the claims that they make like "he's a muslim" and "he doesn't love this country" and "he's a socialist" and "he isn't really a natural born citizen" and on and on, are intentionally inciting the crazies to come out of the woodwork. He believes that people like Bill O'Reilly, who claims that although he may have been very extreme and hateful about abortion, he didn't really intend for someone to go murder Tiller, they actually do like the fact that someone killed him and that they won't be disappointed if someone kills Obama.

He said he knows this because he used to be an integral part of it. He knows what they used to say in public and also what they said in private. And what they said in private was so extreme, so full of venom, that they knew they were pushing people to commit atrocities.

This is a country that is so completely divided right now because of the extremists and far right wing, who will say anything to further their hateful agenda, that it has reached the point where a brain-washed maniac has killed a Christian doctor on the floor of his church.

The political climate of this country is even reflected in this thread. So completely divided. One side comparing an abortion to slavery in order to try to influence people into believing that abortion is wrong. People saying that anyone who gets an abortion, for any reason, is a murderer. And if not a "murderer" at least they are killing a fully complete human being. And on and on and on. I am glad that at least one person who has been a large part of this ugly, hate-filled anti-choice rethoric has finally come forward, written a book, and is stating in the media that he knows what he did was wrong and is apologizing and taking responsibility for the murder of Tiller and others.

bjean, Oh brother! It's people like you who will blame a whole certain group of spiritual people for the acts of some people who are insane. Get real. The man who murdered Tiller was mentally ill, for people who kill others are sick and demented. The rest of the christian people are not him! So, every time there is a crime committed, we should blame the organization to which the criminal belongs to?

What you are doing and saying here actually fulfills prophecy in the bible. It teaches that the closer that Jesus' return gets, the people will not want to hear what the bible says about sin and will BLAME the christians for the ills in the world and eventually desire to rid the nations of those who profess to be christians. "If only there weren't those extreme christians who desire to eliminate all of the 'goodness'(sinfulness)in the world, we would all get along just fine." By your 'goodness', I speak of abortions which doesn't kill babies, but in fact gives women a 'right' to their own bodies, gay marriages because it's not a sin to have sex with the same sex, their just people in love, and prostitution as a legal profession because anyone should be able to 'choose' what they want to do.(sarcasm added). They will say that we "HATE", instead of understanding that GOD HATES abortion, homosexual acts, prostitution, etc.(sin) Christians will be 'blamed' for all the problems in the world instead of the REAL problem in the world, which is the sinful acts of the people which bring about the consequences for those acts.

What a joke. If you only knew what God deems 'good and righteous'.

BTW< Republicans discredit Obama because he's deserving of it in their opinion. He IS turning this country into a socialistic nation. It is soooooooo obvious by all of his actions thus far, that only his blind and loyal followers can't see it.

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
