You think that it would only affect her life for the 9 months? What about her body, her hormones, her mentality? I would think that God would be opposed to a man touching a penis for pleasure whether it's his own or another mans...?

About how it affects her life..... Sometimes life doesn't go the way we hope. Everything, the sins we commit, the sins others commit, even the good things people do, effects others. Nothing can be done about that. When the woman finds herself with an unwanted pregnancy, she will be affected. That's the way it goes. But there is another life to consider, so she's responsible to make sure that life lives. After it is born, if she chooses to give it up or keep it, that's her choice.

About masturbation.... I know that God would be opposed to a man giving another man pleasure by touching his penis, but I'm not sure about giving himself pleasure by touching his own. After all, we touch other parts of our own bodies for pleasure. We scratch itches, rub our arms or shoulders to massage them, etc. I can't really comment on that issue, because like I said, the bible isn't clear on that one.

Just because you have the belief that a fertilized egg is a whole person with all the rights of every other person on earth, doesn't mean that you are correct. Therein lies the rub. You are passing judgment and sentencing women based on your beliefs, and you are completely dismissing what they believe. You have no right to do that.

And.... Just because you have the belief that a fertilized egg is not a whole person doesn't mean that you are correct. You are sentencing baby human beings to death based on your beliefs and you are completely dismissing that they have a right to life. You have no right to do that.

(I only mirrored your exact words to me in reverse) What's a better scene? Passing judgement and sentencing women (what I'm doing according to you) or sentencing baby human beings to death? (what you would be doing according to me)

If I'm correct, (that the fetus is a human being from conception), you would be advocating killing human beings. If your correct,(that a fetus isn't a human being from conception), I would be advocating putting a mother through a pregnancy for nothing. Which is better? Come on. really!

The pregnancy could cause death for the mother. I almost died giving birth to my son! Do you really think all pregnancies and births are a walk in the park? No complications! And with masturbation I would think god would be against it...most of the time you are looking at porn or having impure thoughts...that sounds like the makings of a sin to me. Why do you have so much passion for an unborn baby, but not so much for a pregnant child? To me the life of a living breathing born child is more important than the life of a developing fetus...

The life of a living, breathing woman is more important than a developing fetus. To say anything else is misogyny. To say that something else has the right to use a woman's body against her will is nothing but misogyny. I personally believe abortion to be a terrible tragedy. However, a far, far worse one would be denying a living, breathing woman the basic human right to autonomy.

Has anyone brought up the organ donation exercise yet?

I'll adress the masturbation thing first. Yes, you are right about the impure thoughts area of masturbation. Maybe if the persons mind could stay on their spouse? I really don't have the answer for this one.

Now, about abortion. To me, noones life is any more important than another. Also, I DO have compassion for the person who ends up with an unwanted pregnancy at any age or for any reason. I was pregnant at 19, not married and unsure of the fathers love for me or committment to me. I know what it's like to be in a situation like that. It's just that once the sperm meets the egg, there it is. Nothing you can do to change it. You're pregnant. As for the child who gets pregnant, that is a hard thing. But that child should get counseling and someone should try to tell her that even though she is in a place where she doesn't want to be, there is another living being inside her that is also in a place where he or she doesn't want to be. (Someone else deciding his or her fate in life). Sometimes life throws hard curveballs, and we have to deal with them. We don't want to, and we wish it would go away, but things happen. We just can't destroy life because we are inconvenienced or hit hard with an unwanted pregnancy or because we don't want to go through 9 months and labor, etc. Who would? But we do what we have to do, because it's the right thing.

Normally, I wouldn't call anyone names,(like cruel) but do you see how you sound? Why is it okay for you to call me cruel for what I believe, yet you wouldn't me to feel you are cruel in what you believe?

The whole reason that I am against making abortion illegal is that we all have different beliefs and we all have different experiences and challenges in life. What would be perfectly acceptable for one woman could mean certain death for another.

For hundreds of reasons, valid personal reasons, I oppose the government making the decision for women without their consent, without input from their doctor, without input from anyone who has a vested interest in the situation.

This is not the cut and dried issue that you claim that it is - that a fertilized egg has the right to develop, no matter what. A fertilized egg is human tissue. It absolutely is NOT a human being with all the rights of a fully developed person.

Whether a woman has a valid reason for terminating a pregnancy or not, she has the right to make that decision for herself. The government, even our church leaders, absolutely do not have the right to tell people what to do in such an extremely important and personal situation. Counsel can be sought and it is right for people to offer help if help is asked for. But coercing women, making decisions for them with regard to their reproductive organs, is just plain wrong.

The bible teaches that these differing opinions between believers and unbelievers on issues are in need of an authority to make the decisions for us. Jesus should be that authority now, but people choose to ignore him and his words to us, but He will be that authority in the future. What one person deems right, others deem wrong, and vice versa. Therefore, when he returns at the end of time, he will set up his Kingdom and every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that he is Lord of all. It will be at that time that all of these issues will be solved. The bible teaches that it will only get worse towards the end. What was once taught to be morally wrong will be accepted as right and what was once taught to be right will be thought of as wrong. Mankind will completely disregard God's words and the Christian believers will be hated for their moral stand. The older I get, the more and more I see this.

I am not cruel because I am thinking about the young girl...the one that has a life, friends, emotions, and a unwanted changing body...what about her health? THE FETUS HAS NO EMOTIONS!!! You are going to ruin a little girls life for a fetus that could grow up to be a rapist? You are cruel because you do not take the little girls life into consideration...all you think about is the growing fetus!!!! I am far from cruel thank you very much!!!

They will be hated because of the way they take their stand...the way they push it on other people instead of it being friendly it's...do this or burn in hell...blah blah blah

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
