I just noticed that you two are at about the same place in your lapband journey. Good for both of you. Impressive weight losses. I've had a recent setback and it gives my morale a boost to see people who are doing so well. :crying:

{sigh} I'm only responding because of the misstatements posted.

There have been times when you only used part of what I said to make it look like I said it differently.

I can't think of a time when I've done that. I have always tried to deal with everyone and everything, especially as it regards this issue, very honestly.

3440 horrible evil bush - as if that is something I said.

You've made no secret of the fact that you are not a fan of Bush. You didn't say those exact words but you characterized what he did as devious and bad for the country. I don't think that's out of line at all based on previous posts on this thread and others about how much you think Bush has been bad for this country and about how you disagree with his politics.

3448 you never responded to the question about your professionally presented, comprehensive sex ed classes.

That's not mischaracterizing anything. I've asked many a question that hasn't been answered on this board. It's pretty normal and not devious or deceptive at all.

3442 didn't play fair

3442 was a post by CarrieC

3435 quoted me out of context, obviously intentionally to make your point

I don't see anything out of context there at all. So if I did do so, it wasn't "obviously intentionally to make [my] point".

3470 more of the same

3470 was spot on, a quote directly from you.

You just don't play very fair most of the time.

Just because you don't agree with someone or they have good arguments doesn't mean they don't play fair. It's obvious you and I have diametrically opposed points of view on just about everything. If you don't like what I have to say, just ignore me! I often ignore what you have to say (obviously not all the time).

If you're feeling benevolent, you can be very kind. If the posts are going your way, you are a very nice person.

That's quite a backhanded compliment.

I don't know why you have to drag things down to that level, but after such a long time of sharing this thread with you, and other threads, I guess I just got a little sick of it.

It's absolutely incredible that everything you don't like on this thread is my fault.

Especially when we were talking about trying to come up with positive ideas about sex education in public schools that might really make a difference and you post some gawd-awful crap that has no relevance but that makes sex ed look bad.

Are you saying the website I posted has no relevance? Because I'm not quite sure what you're saying here, but if you are, it is quite relevant. The organization that goes into most of the schools and presents the sex ed program, Planned Parenthood, hosts that website. If you don't like their approach, talk to them -- not to me.

I was an escort for a Planned Parenthood when I lived in Seattle. You should have heard the vile things that were spewed out by the anti-choice side. I had things (liquids, bottles, etc) thrown at me. I was spit on. My car was keyed. I had sugar put in my gas tank. Some weird guy followed me home and my boyfriend at the time had to run him off.

I escorted shaking and crying women who just wanted to get healthcare without being harrased. It was one of the most powerful exp of my life. I would do it all again in a heartbeat.

I live in Tacoma (University Place) and I see crap like that everytime I drive by the Planned Parenthood. It's out of hand. I told my husband I want to go to thier church and picket about how they treat these men and women (Mostly women)...It's disgusting!!!

I'm sorry you've both experienced and witnessed things like that. I don't much care for pro-lifers who give the group a bad name. It's easy to get angry, but that does nothing to help the cause. On the flip side, I've seen some pretty awful things from the pro-abortion side as well, but I know it's not universal.

rordiguezequal, I know it's a weird request, but the next time you're driving by there I would really appreciate it if you would stop and ask the name of the organization the protesters are with. I totally understand if you're uncomfortable doing that, but if you are up for it I'd like to know who it is.

Just FYI, I re-researched contraceptive failure statistics, and my memory served me right. Contraceptive "failure rates" are indicated by the number of pregnancies occurring over a year for which the parties reported using the given method of contraception. The rate absolutely does take into consideration non-use of the method. In other words, if you were part of a study group with condoms being your birth-control method and you run out of them, don't use them one time, and get pregnant, it would statistically be considered "condom failure".

Taking a sub-section of a group will change the "failure rate". For example, mature people in a committed relationship will have a higher efficacy rate for any given contraception than will, for example, teenagers. It's not because the teens don't know how to use the contraception, but rather that they are not consistent with its use.

How exactly do you know that Jamie Spears was raised not knowing right from wrong?

Yes I read your later posts about this but I am late back and would love to know your inside information, other than just enjoying that Palin kool-aid.

I don't know for certain, all I can do is see the fruits of her life, the deeds of her life, her sisters actions, her mothers comments about raising them, the dysfunction in the whole families lives. When they were young, her mother allowed them to dress as if they were in their 20's. Her older sister was allowed to dance using alluring and provocative moves at a very young age, their apparel tells me they are looking for attention, etc. All I can do is come to my own assertation that they grew up in a screwed up home. My opinion.

gadget I understand your logic and you're right, I sure do not agree with it. You've always been able to come up with statistics that are jarring. You are excellent at sounding credible. Using shock to scare people to make their case could have been invented by the anti-choice movement because they are so darned good at it. Fortunately most people see it for what it is. They are not fooled and they are turned off by it.

You cannot say that a condom didn't work if it wasn't used, not when you are citing FAILURE rate for birth control methods. You can say that the use of condoms for birth control failed when you are talking about pregnancies that happen when the people involved use condoms as their regular birth control, but didn't use a condom on the occasion when they conceived. There's a big difference when you are teaching people about birth control. And that's what we were talking about. You must make the distinction that if condoms are your birth control of choice, they will not work to prevent pregnancy if you don't use them. And if you use them, you absolutely must use the equipment properly or they will fail.

I wasn't trying to give you a "backhanded" compliment. I was just telling it like I see it. It is what it is.

I see you've knocked yourself out. Seriously, right out of the ballpark as far as I'm concerned. A homerun of rebuttal. Wow. Impressive.

You cannot judge Jamie by the actions of her sister. Jamie was on Nick for kids! She didn't dress or act like her sister...

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
