It may be bad to say, but I think most women would rather have an abortion than give up the baby for adoption. I know when I was pregnant, I thought about adoption, but there was no way I was going to go through 9 months of pregnancy and then give it to someone else. Not to mention, I didn't even want anyone to know I was pregnant. I think that is the case with a lot of women who have abortions. They don't want anyone to know.

I think people do not want to go through what they think woudl be percieved as shame to have the baby then give it up .

Abortion can be a secret, No one ever has to know .

So no one has to know your "Mistake" no one has to "Judge" you if they dont know . Its easy for people to judge you if your pregnant.

Everyone thinks and acts as if abortion is the"easy" way out and its not . I dont think any option is easy .

AP Source: Obama to rescind Bush abortion rule

Bravo !!! While i say a doc has the right to refuse to do an abortion UNLESS its under a medical emergency , I do NOT Think a doc has the right to not give a patient ALL Their options.

So I say good for Obama !!

No one is saying that they want to make picketing (quietly or otherwise) outside a Planned Parenthood office illegal.

But women have the right to choose whatever they believe is the proper course of action for them. They may choose to have an unwanted child and keep it or they may choose to have it and then give it up for adoption. They may find themselves in a situation where having a child is simply impossible and they choose to have a procedure that will terminate the pregnancy. Every case is different, every circumstance is different and the health of every pregnant woman is different. That is why it is necesssary for us to allow women to make these decisions for themselves.

What a woman does not have a right to do is to force another woman to have an unwanted child and then give it up for adoption.

I agree wholeheartedly. It's a terrible thing for people to judge you for because, really, very few people judge the father of the baby! And really, in today's society, people don't generally judge when two unmarried people are sleeping together. So all they judge is the natural consequence of that activity, and the only one they judge is the mother.

Everyone thinks and acts as if abortion is the"easy" way out and its not . I dont think any option is easy .

Again, I agree. Neither option is easy and both have life-long implications. Once the baby is conceived, there are no easy answers. Mothers can perceive that abortion is easier than the alternatives because it seems like it "solves" the "problem", but for many, many mothers it is a problem in and of itself.

How will you feel if Obama's new guidelines do, in fact, require doctors to provide abortions? Or if it forces religious hospitals to provide abortions, which will likely have the effect of shutting them down?

Here's a fetal homicide case that just happened in Ohio:

Fetal Homicide Investigation

Excerpts:

SCIOTO COUNTY, Ohio (WSAZ) -- A new homicide investigation involving the termination of a pregnancy has police and prosecutors in Portsmouth, Ohio double checking their code books.< /em>

It all started with a car accident last Friday night in Portsmouth.

The crash caused a spontaneous abortion for one of the passengers, 18-year-old Jennifer King.

King was just four weeks pregnant at the time.

. . .

The police report says the crash caused Jennifer King to suffer a spontaneous abortion and police and prosecutors say by law, the apparent unlawful termination of a pregnancy calls for a homicide investigation.

“In Ohio, a crash with the death of an unborn fetus is looked at as a fatal crash,” said Officer Peters.

“He needs vehicle manslaughter or something, there were three pregnant women in the car and he still did it,” King said.

Heineman suffered a broken nose, concussion and fractured ribs.

The case remains under investigation and no arrests have been made yet.

Police say assault charges are possible in the punching incident.

As for the fetal homicide case, the charge could range anywhere from involuntary manslaughter to aggravated murder.

-----------------------

So here's another state where viability isn't an issue. Kill an unborn baby and you're charged with at least involuntary manslaughter. Oh, unless, of course, you're the mother.

Times have changed and beliefs are different...so yeah maybe back then they acted as if it is your only option, but that is not how it is now...I've been to PPH...So what you are saying is you went against what you preach....you had sex before marraige *gasp*. I guess we all do things that we weren't/aren't proud of...

I don't know what you think I profess to be, but I have never claimed to be a sinless person. I am probably the worst. I also stated that I went there before I became a christian. Even so, as a christian, I am not, nor will I ever be able to live without sinning.

I never said she claimed to be sinless, but then she shouldn't bash people's beliefs, mistakes or choices, when low and behod she has made a good number of them herself!

It is never my intent to 'bash' anyones beliefs and especially their mistakes. I know that we all make mistakes. If you feel that I am bashing your choices, it is only because I admit that I don't agree with them. When you tell me how you feel about a womans right to choose, I don't feel that you are bashing me. So, if you feel this way, I sincerely apologize.

That reason , to me, doesn't justify the taking of an innocents life. (just because you don't want anyone to know)

Here is a wonderful news story about the pro-life effort going on this season. You can be darn sure the woman in the story didn't hear about all of her "choices" inside that clinic! Woman tells pro-lifers she changed mind - al.com

Very nice story. It goes to show you that there have been some extreme protests in the past, but they are not all like that. I don't agree with some who shout out at women and call them names. There is a better way. Simply offering them help and giving other options is a good solution.

I dont see how the guidelines could shut a hospital down ?

I think if a doc does not want to perform an abortion he should not have to . HOWEVER, he should provide information to a woman to a doctor who WILL and provide information to the woman on where she could go get one or what her other options are. I use to work for a doctor who did not believe in abortion and left it up to ME a CA to provide information to a woman on abortion . how assanine is that ? What if i was not giving her accurate information ? All i could do was give her info on where to go . But i was not a trained Nurse . It was irresponsible of him to leave that info to me . He had NO IDEA what i was giving her. I always gave her info of a doc that WOULD provide that info to her.

You notice the article didn't say that manslauter charges WERE brought, just that the District Attorney might possibly consider something like that or maybe even something else. For all we know the person quoted is anti-choice and the journalist is trying to sensationalize it for his/her own purposes. These are the kinds of things that anti-choice people love to trot out. They just don't hold Water and their credibility suffers. Even if some D.A. somewhere thought it was justifiable to charge someone with murder or manslaughter in the case of a woman who was into a 4 month pregnancy, it doesn't mean that the case would hold up in court or that the D.A. is even right. It's like Mindy said so directly and to the point, this is a crock of manure.

Why would you think that's a bad thing to say?

I just think it is bad that women feel like they can't tell anyone they are pregnant. I think it is just a bad situation to be in.

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

I hope your surgery on Wednesday goes well. You will be able to do all sorts of new things as you find your new normal after surgery. I don't know this from experience yet, but I am seeing a lot of positive things from people who have had it done. Best of luck!

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.
