4 weeks post op, gained 2 lbs

Recommended Posts

My first fill is on valentine's day and I feel like I have less restriction than I did initially after surgery. I'm eating healthy but don't get full fast enough and end up over eating. I have yet to throw up, that's a small victory! Lol.

Is this normal?

Yes! Most Bandsters have a small gain after starting foods. It's perfectly normal. Try to stay off the scale, stick to your food plan, and get your first fill on schedule. It will take a few fills before you reach the green zone, which could take many months. I'm at green now and I'm 10 months out. I've been there for maybe a month or two. But it took five fills to get me there. No matter. As long as you stick to the rules, you will lose weight. It does get easier. Congratulations!

Yes, absolutely!!! I had a small gain last week. I too find that I am able to put away a fair amount of food but am making mostly wise choices with the food I do eat - and I'm not bringing anything up or getting anything stuck yet either. I am having my 2nd fill done in about 2 hours and am hoping like hell that I feel a little more restriction.

Good luck with it, and it is nice to know that other people go through the same thing and that you are completely NORMAL!!

I never get full when I eat. I eat until i'm satisfied. I don't eat past 1/2 hr, whether I finish food or not. I am not at the green zone yet, so I try to have healthy Snacks, try, when I get hungry between meals. You will never feel any "Restriction" from the band. The band does not restrict anything. We do. what we are looking for from our band is to not be hungry for up to 4 hrs between meals, causing us not to snack. Until I get enough fills to reach the green zone, it's really up to me to measure my food and not snack so much. not easy, but my band does help me. good luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
