Would like to hear from those long time banded

Recommended Posts

I have been banded 7 months and it has gone well. I have seen on several band sites the horrors of complications and band removal. I would love to hear from some veterans who have had their bands awhile with no complications. I understand that in the U.S. this is a relatively new procedure (2001). But I am grateful for any positive input from the vets....I would love to believe this band will be in me for a long time to come.

I am only a little over a year out, but personally, I believe when you go to these sites, what you do tend to hear is the horror stories. But, with any type of procedure, there are going to be ones that don't have great success. I think you don't hear from the successful ones as much because they are out living their lives and not on the boards as much anymore. I just don't worry about what may or may not happen with my band in the future. What is meant to be is meant to be.

I cant tell you how good your reply makes me feel. My Mexico surgeon has had his band in for 9 years and has no plans of removing it. Thank you for taking the time to respond and ease a newbies fears.

I was banded by Dr. Rumbaut in Nov of 2002 & have had much success. I was at goal & got pregnant with my first child in 2004. I've been able to lose my pregnancy weight & am about 20 lbs from my goal. Lots of luck with your band! It's an awesome tool!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
