Cramp or unpleasant tightness immediately after food or water hits stomach

Recommended Posts

I am 4 months post-op, and for the last week, most of the time I eat or drink something, I have a cramp like feeling in my stomach. It occurs 80% of the time. Water, yogurt, Protein Shake, Soup, eggs etc. The unpleasant feeling can last 15 minutes to hours. It is not sharp pain. Really not pain as much as "unpleasant and odd." Has this been discussed recently by anyone? My searches turned up empty.

This happens to me if I eat too fast or drink too fast, or if I take more than Suzy Sleeve can handle. Have you added any new foods recently? I have learned just to slow down. (It is still hard to eat slowly, and to know when I have had enough.) Hope this helps. :D

I am seeing Dr next week to see if it is a stricture. I am hoping it resolves itself. Honestly, it is helping me with weight loss but I know whatever is happening ain't supposed to, so Dr. visit is warranted.

Lipstick, when did your stricture show up? I am not yet sure what is "wrong" but, I have felt the same way... If it helps me stay in line and won't hurt me, leave it alone. Sometimes, even without eating or drinking, I get a similar feeling. Pressure or hunger or something I just can't put a finger on...,

My stricture "showed" up the first day I tried to swallow a pill. That pill was stuck for three days before it finally dissolved enough to go down.

I was on pureed/soft for almost 6 months before I could move on to solids. To this day, a bite too big of chicken, the white of a hard boiled egg, hamburger too well done and blurp.... It sticks and comes back out.

Thanks for the reply! I have much simpler, more minimal issue. Doctor said I may have beginnings of gall bladder stuff or, as I have noticed, symptoms are minimizing and may go away all together!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
