Hi I am 4 months out. I had the RNY. I do not regret it most days but today I am. I did fine on liquids but ended up with a stricture, a huge ulcer that covered most of my pouch. I am unable to keep anything down. I had iv fluids for awhile but the Ivs kept blowing my veins. So they put in a PICC Line in first one clogged second one had a allergic reaction to the tape they used. Third one I had three sets of sutures rip out of my skin and now I have a ng tube going through my nose down my throat all the way to my small intestine. That is how I get my nutrition. Drinking and eating hurt and I have not been able to take my Vitamins so my hair is starting to fall out in clumps. I don't fully regret the surgery I just wish I could have less complications. This is my second ng tube because the first got clogged. I have child sized nasal passages and they used adult sized stuff not happy. In a lot of pain. I am in Idaho, Boise area. ????

Sorry you are having a tough time. I am hypersensitive and I break out even when they use the latex free stuff on me. I always end up blowing veins and needing PICC lines as well. It seems like such a small thing but the itch just drives you crazy. Welcome to the forums! Hopefully they'll get you patched back up and about in no time.

@@Tweety208

glad you found this group :)

and vice versa

we're all here to support you, thats the name of the game

oh dear

I can only imagine how you are feeling

you've been dealing with these problems almost 4 months??

how long were you in the hospital??

have you had to go back to the hospital numerous times for help??

out of curiosity how much weight have you lost?

not that it matters at this point

you need to get healthy first

don't those nasty IV bags have sugar "solution" in them

what is doc saying?

improvement?? approx when?"?

nasty NG tube!!!

"guesstimate" on when things will turn around??

these are pretty "open" vague questions

hope you don't mind me asking them

ask your questions here on the board

you will get some great replies :)

hear other peoples experience

but remember

at the end of the day ONLY listen to the words of your doc//surgeon & nut!!!

follow what HE/THEY tell you!!!

they are there to help you :)

i hope with all my heart that things improve soon

fingers and toes crossed that things will get better soon!!!

kathy

good luck

I have been in the er and radiology department so many times they are getting to know me by site. Yes the Ivs had lots of sugar and calories especially when you don't have strength or energy to move. I gained weight back. Surgery date I weighed 279 I am now 242. I think that's 36lbs. I started my journey with pre op appointments last January I started at 299.7lbs.

Life will get better. I have faith in that. It's just the days are long and I want to get healthy again. Along with the surgery and complications I also have a paralyzed vocal chord so lost my voice for awhile. Had surgery on that too.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
