January Sleevers ❄️

Recommended Posts

I've been considering doing the 5 day sleeve test to get some restriction back. My capacity isn't too bad but I'm noticing my emptiness more often. I still have about 13# left that I want to lose but I'm not worried about doing it quickly. @@mduffield is tots right about slow and steady. Got new orders to shoot for 50g protein/day and more fruits and veggies eaten first every meal. I'm also a fast foodist from being in college and I don't always make the right decisions but my good decisions outweigh my bad ones and I don't sacrifice my intake goals because of them. Just keep taking it one meal at a time and you'll get there if you work at it enough.

I'm trying I signed up with my trainer today and bough some meal prep containers and completely threw out every single piece of junk food in my house. plus I gave my debit card to my husband and said if I'm not with you then I don't need it cause a drive thru is very tempting. i need to just get motivated. If I could lose this weight I gained and breath a little I would be ok. So I guess the new year it what I need to get back in track.

Veronica,

You can do this! We have all had struggles. That is why we are going through this process. Weight loss is HARD!! Each day is a new day & take the opportunity to make good choices for that day & that moment! We are here for each other!

@@Veronica Page stay strong! Believe in yourself. I believe in you. You got this. Try and I know it's so haaaaard but learn to appreciate the low moments of this journey so when high moments come you can look back and realize what a bad ass you are! Xoxo. Low moments don't last they may tend to drag on more than what we want..but really u got this!

It's a daily struggle for me mentally. My daughter is in sports so it's constantly on the go, grab to eat. I settle for mcds Breakfast burrito or cheese stick from a gas station or a slice of pizza and eat the toppings Or I keep drinking more Water. ITS A SLIPPERY slope, but those days I remember to pack something or drive by and not stop. I am victorious that day :)

thanks for the words of encouragement I really want to beat this fight of the bulge. I did think the honeymoon would be over so fast and that it would get so hard. I will keep trying cause I deserve it and I think that if I could just remember that I will win!

Hang in there, we all have struggled and if someone says they haven't, well I don't buy it. We are all here for each other. This is a place we can be honest with how we are doing. (There are some that aren't on here that are suffering cuz they've started to gain.) You are here, checking in, being honest. Good for you!

I've been told by those who have traveled this road before us that the last 25% of our weight loss can be very hard. We are past the honeymoon phase, the hunger is back, we can eat more. Now we have to be even more diligent like we were in the beginning. And there is always the terror of gaining some of it back!

I see a therapist to keep me on track and he gave me a kick in the butt. When I was whining about having to watch what I eat every day, he gently said .....get over it!! Yea, its hard and it's also hard for millions (WLS or not) to maintain a healthy weight. Holidays, TV ads, food at work..... I have now joined the millions who have to watch what they eat. If I'm honest with myself, my healthy weight friends (and those who are overweight too) have to watch what they eat, everyday! They keep portions small, eat healthy food and exercise. Yes, occasionally they eat too much and then they get right back to eating healthy. So what did I think it was going to be a cake walk!? I tell myself the hard truth, GET OVER IT. This is how it's going to be. I will always have to be careful. I will always have to limit my portions, I will take 2 steps forward and occasionally one back. But I'll keep moving forward.

We can do this!!

Nice! I want boobs. Kinda stuck but I'm hoping the new semester will provide some more loss. I only want to lose another 15#. My body looks like I had a kid which isn't too bad except I don't have a child to excuse myself. My regrowth is probably 2 in but curly so I recently cut it short to keep it bouncy. I still feel like some areas have yet to grow back. Probably need to talk to a dermatologist to figure out a solution. This year is definitely ask about defining my shape. Good luck to you this year!

I was of the understanding that the part of the stomach that is left after the sleeve is not very elastic.

Does the 5 day pre-op work?

thanks @bewell. I'm getting over it. I was whining and wishing I could cool breeze it til goal but I was heavier than most who started when I did so I can't really beat myself up. Where I haven't lost weight recently I have gain muscle and look a lot leaner then I did. 2016 is my year to get to my personal goal and make my life what I want it to be. 25 more pounds and I'm having my stomach done, I never wanted to really be thin as I want to be healthy and I think that is where I stand. I feel like I have 5-8lbs of excess skin on my tummy and some on my inner thighs. I gained 2 inches in my booty due to the 200 squats I do a day and I feel pretty good. I need to have my kitchen on lock down after 7 cause thats when I start roaming it like a rodent eating things for no reason. So weird how I never wanted to eat to now I really want to eat again. Stinks and wish those desires were cut out with my stomach. On the best side my skin and hair looks amazing and I feel pretty for once!

You have done amazing! And you've lost over 100 pounds. Incredible! Congrats on your planned reduced tummy. I'm way too chicken-Xhit for that. And my apron is pretty gross but I've come to like it, much smaller and so jiggly. Now my girls....yikes they are nearly down to my belly-button. Still big cuz there is so much excess skin. I might do the girls.

And I totally get it! When I feel so good now and look so much better (still a big girl tho) it's harder to find the same life and death motivation I had pre-WLS. But like I said early.....I had to get over it! It's hard for everyone.

With you too on the toning. It was weird when I was not losing weight I did lose inches and it gave my body, skin and my head a chance to catch up to the change.

I've done better the past few days and feel pretty good.

Best to you and so happy you keep posting. You've really kept this Jan 2015 alive. Thank you.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
