I am on soft foods as of right now... I tried fat free refried Beans the other day and they were definitely a no go...

but I seem to be able to eat pinto Beans in Soups.

any idea why I can eat one but not the other? it just seems really odd to me.

@@catlover2565 Probably because of the density of refried Beans, plus our sleeves can be very picky at times. You may not have a problem next time you try.

No. Sometimes the belly just gets picky. A few weeks further down the road and the tummy may not mind refried Beans.< /p>

I noted that you said fat free, as a label reader I learned long ago that most of the time "fat free" will also have higher sugar. Could you be sensitive to sugar? I know someone who has the sleeve and post op became very sugar sensitive.

Our sleeves can be weird at times. For example, I can eat Old Elpaso salsa with nary a grumble, but try eating Taco Bell taco sauce and Frankensleeve will seize up and feel like I'm trying to digest rocks!!!! :(

Thanks! They tasted sooooo good at the time! I havent had issues with other things that have sugar in them.. and I just checked they have less than a gram of sugar.. I might try thinning them out some with broth or Water...

I also had an issue with egg beaters. I am gonna try regular scrambled eggs tomorrow... IF I can get the courage up to try eggs again right now... Not too sure I will do it tomorrow though.. the idea of puking on my birthday kinda makes me want to wait a bit longer..

I couldn't tolerate retried Beans when I was on purees. Now I tolerate them fine.

I have not had problems with any foods, but most people I've spoken to (and also those that stated in this thread) is that our tolerance generally gets better and better. Most people say that after roughly a year they can eat any food they want without upset. So don't get discouraged! It'll get better and better!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
