I'm 2 weeks post op. I'm still eating puréed foods. I have to get back to the crazy routine of taking kids to school and running errands at least until I go to work. What can I eat outside. I had my Protein Shake but I was told I can't eat oatmeal. Should I buy some babyfood until I can get some mash potatoes? Didn't think this through

Get an insulated lunch bag and an ice pack and take Greek yogurt and cottage cheese. Mashed potatoes are loaded up with carbs and have almost no Protein - it's not what I would recommend.

@@babytech82 I have had a lot of luck with Beech Nut's new babyfood line. The meats are surprisingly good, especially the chicken. If you can bring some seasonings (salt, pepper, maybe mrs. dash?) with you to season it that is a good way to go in my opinion. (Without some kind of seasoning, they are completely unseasoned and bland.) I also like their peas, green Beans and asparagus mix if you want to get a little veg in too. Another thing you could do while out and about may be to bring a thermos with some hot broth/soup (maybe pea or lentil Soup?)

Good luck to you!

Sorry, but I'd avoid going the mashed potato route. Sweets and starches are a slippery slope for me. How about bringing along a cooler with Protein shakes and tuna/chicken salad? When my schedule get nuts, I pack a cooler. Once you get further down the road, my on-the-fly meal is beef or turkey Jerky. Tons of Protein and reasonable calories. Turkey Jerky tends to have less sodium than beef. But that's once you can eat that kind of stuff. Also, pack a large bottle with your favorite drink. Mine is watered-down Crystal Light iced tea. I drink 72+ ounces of it a day. Again, you can't do that yet, but down the road....

As soon as I could tolerate fish, I got the tuna salad / cracker single serving packs from Aldi's and just did not eat the crackers. It comes with a little scoop and is $1 here in Chicago. They have ham salad, too, and they are ground pretty finely. Totally portable

Get you some lock and locks and bring your food with you. Between that and the on the go food others have suggested you should be fine. I didn't buy baby food. I know that easier for some, but I'm a grown up. No way was I eating baby food. Buy a lunch pack and a water bottle or 2 and keep it moving.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
