Will I Never Learn?

OMG. I just ate half a Premier bar. I thought I was going slowly, but apparently not slow enough. I'm so nauseous and want to die at this moment. It's so discouraging. I walked around the store with my husband and just kind of tuned out all the food because there's nothing I can eat. We went to the Protein Shake isle where I get my Premier Protein shakes (they work best for me) and there I saw the Protein Bars for the first time. 30g of Protein per bar...downside is 8g of sugar, but that's still within my guidelines. The tricky part is I just had my surgery on Dec 16th, and so I need to be careful what textures I eat. I shouldn't have eaten the bar. So sick. So depressed. I'm sorry for the whining. Nobody else I know understands.

I totally get you I am 2 months out and still am on soft and moist food. I can't tolerate meat yet, I am eating things like cottage cheese, string cheese, egg whites and I have graduated to eating chicken salad out of a custard cup. I had to back up from trying to eat like 8 weeks out I was throwing up all the time. So now I am ok with only eating Soup and stuff like that. It will get better they say. I have a Dr. appointment on Monday and boy do I have stuff to tell her. LOL....I hope you get to feeling better.

I had mine on December 15 and I totally understand how you feel. I had a oz of mushy collards and pureed Mac and cheese and it felt like it just got stuck in and I had to make myself throw it back up because I was so nauseated and after I did I was much better. I am going to try the stage three baby food.< /p>

Awww... We are here for each other. I am six weeks post op and I've learned I cannot tolerate meat. None. Except chili, go figure. I'm so frustrated and I've had a few break down moments. I've thrown up a few times these past few weeks and I know right now I need too. I tried some turkey burger tonight (3 small bites) and I can feel it sitting in my throat. Tomorrow I'm going back to soft foods like cottage cheese, yogurt, crackers with cheese. For some reason crackers are considered soft. I've also asked myself what have I done a couple of times today. I know I made the best choice for me and I'm still learning. However I am somewhat sad that I let myself get to the point of needing surgery. I've decided to attend a support group meeting next Wednesday hoping that I'm not the only person feeling frustrated. Keep smiling and I heard this will get better over time. The best part is we will be skinny hot babes by summer!!! ????

It gets better I promise... I am 8 months out.. I remember the weeks of living on Wendy's chili and cottage cheese...and Protein Shakes, But it changed quickly.. I know it feels like it will not get Better now but it does... The weight starts melting away and things get easier... Still have to watch what I eat and how fast but it does get better...

It's a journey that's for sure. I was sleeved on 12/15 and thought I would never eat again. Every so often, I try to eat real food and deeply regret it soon after. It just sits there for at least 4 hours. I need to realize that I am not ready for textured food and stick with full liquids. I agree, that " I'm so full I'm going to die" feeling is horrible and scary. I'm experiencing it right now. I've walked, worked out, taken gas x, tums, and Zofran and nothing helps. But, that feeling eventually goes away. Feel better soon!

A friend of mine had the sleeve she had it on the third of December. She is so depressed she left her family for the day and checked into a hotel. Is this normal?

Aaww that's a bit sad that she has felt she has to remove herself from her family. It is a tough time with everyone enjoying Christmas dinner around us when all we can have is liquids but hopefully she will realise that each day is a closer step to a healthier new life for her. In a year's time she will look back and it will just be a faded memory. Please let her know there is support out there - even if it is a message board like here, or yourself.

Does the hotel have a spa? An indoor pool? I don't know her family dynamic over the holidays but as an introvert, I can see the attraction of checking into a hotel.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
