No problems eating....

Recommended Posts

First off...I want to say that my heart goes out to anyone recently sleeved that is having any types of problems. So my question is not one of complaint, but genuine interest.

I'm four weeks post op and starting solids. Until this point I've been lucky not to experience any nausea. I'm able to drink Water like a fish and am up to drinking one to two premier shakes daily and eating meals and two Snacks. I'm eating no more than my 1/2 cup per meal...BUT I never get that full feeling that everyone describes. I make myself stop. I've joked that maybe my doctor didn't operate on me...lol I've lost 30lbs since surgery...plus 10lbs preop. I've been able to tolerate hamburger meat, chicken, eggs, spicy/hot seasoning. Eating ALL Proteins at this point because I don't want veggies or fruits, but should I add them to my meal? I see my NUT the week after The New Year.

I think for the most part a lot of us sit online Pre-Op reading all the information we can get our hands on and we see that there are people post-op who put up posts about not being able to tolorate certain foods and complications so we just assume at some point during our journy we'll have the same experience and when we don't it becomes worrisome.

I myself am 3 months out -48lbs and I have had 0 foods that i've had issues with and I am also able to drink Protein Drinks and Water just fine.

I've always measured my food and stopped myself since surgery. In my experience, that full feeling means I'm about to have a bad time.

Thank you for your reply. Have you tried pretty much everything as far as Proteins? I'm wondering how far to push it. From my NUT's schedule I can begin trying anything I think I can tolerate. I would love to try a bite of steak, but scared to death..lol

@@Thenewnic Yes. I had Steak a month or so out, Pork, chicken, Fish, Lamb, Turkey.

No issues. It's trial and error, Not everyone is going to have an issue with food but some do.

Just take your time and find out what works for you.

No...I'm saying a month out of surgery MY surgeon says I can eat what I can tolerate. You need to follow your Bariatric groups plan. Everyone's is different. AND it's not all "kinds" of food. It's healthy choices with Protein being my overall goal. I will not add breads, grains, pastas to my food for a year because that is my choice. Good luck!!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
