Because of my history of crohn's disease and feeding tubes my Dr. will only to the sleeve. I was hoping for bypass. I am disappointed. I also have a hernia and an enlarged node on my pancreas. I'm irritated.

I did the sleeve, my wife did the bypass. We both got to goal and have done well.

Why? The Sleeve is proving to be just as successful as the bypass, with fewer short and long term complications! You should rejoice in the fact that you are able to have WLS at all! So many who desperately want and need it can't have it :( Don't worry, be happy!

I have limited knowledge about the sleeve. I will research it. I have studied and had prepared myself for bypass. We'll see. Insurance will have to approve the sleeve or I won't be getting anything except fatter I guess. I don't think sleeve is covered. I'm very discouraged at this point especially because I have paid my $700 program fee and I can't get that back.

Oh, well that's a different story. I hope they will approve you!! Good luck!

@@CharlotteWebb The sleeve is a great option and if that's the safest surgery for you then don't be upset. There are tons of people who would love to have this surgery and can't. Since this is a new procedure to you just spend some time researching it. You can find out all kinds of info, Internet, youtube, reading ect...and you always have the option of not having it done at all if your against it. No need to upset yourself!

@@CharlotteWebb - I'm happy to hear your surgery will be covered! I had the sleeve done in September. A friend had the RNY back in April. She's lost almost 100 lbs in 8 months, I've lost almost 40 in 3 - it's a tool and as long as you exercise and follow your doctors suggestions, you'll be great!

Listen be grateful your getting the sleeve. I had chemo 9 months ago my Dr refuses to give me a Be Happyclearance. Thank god as of today I'm cancer free...

I had wanted RNY also, but since I have had anemia for the past 3 years off and on, they told me Sleeve or nothing. I've since warmed up to it, and am feeling 100% better about the change, and looking forward to it. Give it some time, and research it :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
