Will I ever eat pasta again?

Recommended Posts

I do not have fill as of yet, and I have had a small amount of rice and pizza. I have not had Pasta yet or bread. I think the bread I can live without but pasta is so versatile and can be used in SO many dishes. I don't know why I have not tried it as of yet, I guess I am scared too. My tastes have definitely changed. I dont have the cravings from eating carbs all the time though, so maybe that is it. Deanna

I don't understand how things taste differently. chocolate still tastes like chocolate and other foods the same. I don't crave red meat though anymore. I have a fear that steak will get "stuck". I tried eating a burger w/ out bread and that didn't fly so well. Again, I don't know how your taste buds change. Or is it you don't crave it anymore?

Your taste buds dont change but you stop wanting things if they're hard to eat - like I said, I eat Pasta, rice and bread but I'd eat a slice of bread once in a blue moon - its difficult to eat, I have to chew it VERY carefully and it fills me up - to the point of discomfort if I dont watch it. Its also one of those foods for me that I think has gone down fine and OUCH, five minutes later. So its a rarity that I would choose to eat it, when I'm thinking "hmmm, what will I have to luch, I think sandwich?Nah..".

Ditto donuts etc. They still taste excellent! But they're most definitely not worth the trouble.

Ha! I must be a really slow learner. Or maybe I'm just stubborn. The only PB I've had was 2 days after my last fill and it was on the chicken in my chicken Pasta Parmesan that I eat every day for lunch. I still eat it every day, but I'm more careful of the chicken, especially when I get a really dry piece. A PB isn't going to keep me from the food I like!

I find cake, donuts, and thick breads are not worth the pain that occurs after eating them. So now I understand what you were saying before. I find it is not worth and the other thought is that those things are what got me to the place needing my lap-band. I try to eat so much healthier now. I will eat a piece of chocolate if I really have the craving.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
