Optisource Vitamins

Recommended Posts

Has anyone tried the optisource Vitamins? They are specially formulated for people who have had bariatric surgery. I think they are geared more towards gastric bypass patients. However, I cannot take regular vitamins as I just can't get those huge things past my band. I have been taking flintstones chewables, but I really don't think I am getting what I need from them, so I thought I would try the Optisource. I just wanted to see if anyone else had any experience or thoughts on them.

Thanks.

Shaklee also has a chewable multi Vitamin called Vita-Lea. I live in Canada so I'm not sure if the same products are available through the States or not. Good luck!

Maudeispam, the 4 a day thing was what I was wondering about. Do you think 4 a day is necessary for us seeing we don't have malabsorption issues?

I had asked my doctor what I should be taking now pre-band and then after. He suggested two flinstone Vitamins daily, the opti-source (he didn't say how many though, that is a good question), or Centrum now makes a chewable Vitamin. I bought the centrum and it is really good. It is also orange flavored and I love them...... They contain the same amounts of vitamins as in the non-chewable form so I figured they are right on the money for what I need and they are a lot cheaper than the opti-source.

When I met with the nurse at my surgeon's office, the suggested the optisource Vitamins. I bought them but didn't open them after reading the bottle. At my two week follow-up visit, I asked my surgeon. He advised that I don't need to take those. With the band, I don't have absorbsen problems such as those who have gastric bypass. He suggested just a once a day multi-Vitamin, such as Centrum. I have purchased the chewable ones and they taste good. They are orange flavored and you only need one a day. You should look into those. Good luck!

My dietician said to buy Centrum chewables. They are cheaper and available most everywhere.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I may try some of the other ones you have suggested, because the optisource really are quite expense at $24.00 a bottle. At first I though that wasn't bad for 120 pills until I got home and read that you are supposed to take four a day. So, I think I will finish these up and then maybe try the Centrum or the chewable Solotron.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
