what are you currently eating?

Here are some things I ate/drank: sugar-free Jello, chicken or vegetable broth, "Dole" sweet corn Soup (it's liquefied), apple sauce, V8 juice, and of course - flavored Water.

Hope this helps. I'll be two weeks post-op Monday ... hang in there.

PhillyChick I am drinking the protien shakes...the chicken broth and vegitable Soup broth... I was not told that i could have applesauce... I have had the sugar free popsicle in Jello too and I was told I could not have any type of unclear liquids so I thought that v8 juice without for me I wonder if it depends on the doctor....

Hippieista...it is a journey huh...the prize will be worth it!

I think I practically lived on Mrs. Grass chicken broth. I was told to throw the noodles out and just use the egg and the seasoning packet. My doctors office gave me this recommendation after the first week and I was so sick of the taste of Protein Shakes. That broth was yummy and savory and really hit the spot.

I promised my husband if I cheated on the pre op diet I would cancel the surgery. His thinking was if I couldn't do what my dr wanted me to do for two weeks how was I going to do this for the rest of my life. I got to thinking he was right. All of the sudden I wasn't hungry anymore and the two weeks flew by. It has now been 19 months, went from 265 to this morning 150.8. And loving life. You can do this. What is 2 weeks out of the rest of your life?

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
