I had my surgery 26 years ago. I've gained a lot back. It's my own fault. I live in an area where I did not have any follow up after my surgery. I lost ove100 pounds. After years I slowly forgot I even had the surgery. Since joining this forum I've relearned how to eat properly. Not to drink after eating. And to foloow the guideline it makes a Hugh difference. My weight is once again going back down. Using the tolls given iam successful again

Update: As of this morning I have officially met my own personal goal of 150 pounds!! I am almost 11 months post op. I am surprised that I have lost the weight so quickly. My family and I have a vacation planned to go to Cedar Point in the near future as a kinda reward for sticking with this. I love roller coasters!! I have attached a couple pics. The 1st is from my bridal shower in 2012 and the 2nd and 3rd are from this morning. Even though sometimes I still see a big person in the mirror I am so happy that I did this and I feel so much better.

My highest weight that I have on record is 280 pounds and that was around November of 2013 right when I started my 6 months of classes before surgery. That is 130 pounds lost total so far. Thank you for the post. It always helps to hear positive comments :) hope your journey goes well!

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.
