SURGERY WENT WAY BETTER THAN I ANTICIPATED 12/10/14 ☺️

Recommended Posts

Surgery went great. I checked in at 9:15. But my surgeon was running behind on his 1st surgery. Surgery was @2:15pm. Took me 4hrs to wake completely up. My family and friends were waiting for me ☺️ I was extremely loopy feeling. Everyone said I just kept mumbling. The nurse asked me if I wanted to walk. So I walked 10x's around the nurses station. I did have a lot pain after surgery. And nurses were on point with meds. NO GAS PX AT ALL! My BP was a bit high, pain/aching in my abdomen. Otherwise I'm ok. Still sleepy though. I was d/c the following day 2pm. The surgeon was laughing because I was sitting with my legs crossed Indian style lol He kept saying you look so refreshed. And no problem sipping Water either. I feel so blessed of my sleeved outcome.

So glad to hear things went well for you!! :)

I had a similar time of it. I am almost 7 weeks post op and nothing about my recovery went the way I thought it would. And for that I am extremely grateful. I used to no pain meds except for in the hospital. Was able to sleep on my side first night in hospital. Yeah!!

I wish you continued success in your journey!!!

I think most patients' surgeries do go better than they expected.

Mine did, too. :)

That's great.

I didn't get gas either. I bought like 3 boxes of Gas-X and didn't need them at all.

Yea so many people that shared their stories. Seemed to have big issues/gas/nausea etc. There's still pain in my tummy. Yesterday I had to take the liquid hydrocodon. And this morning I took a oxycodon. I'm just listening to my body. If achy then I just lay down. And last night I felt better. I went on a short walk.

I agree, some discomfort and light nausea which passes fairly quickly.

Surgery seems pretty big deal, but not feel that bad.

@@klock Good luck on your surgery! Such a fun/excited/nervous time. I really became at peace with the surgery about 4 days before. And I had to stop reading some of these... Idk if they were a bit dramatic posts about surgery. But they just weren't healthy for me to read. I'm glad I could make you feel a bit at ease ????

@hmitchell Agree! Make it positive. You can only hope/pray it will. And don't get me wrong. The 1st 48hrs is an experience. But mine was much more bearable.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
