Pain upper right and around back .. just 17 days in

Recommended Posts

Feeling snakebit. Was feeling so well and on 17th and 18th days post surgery sudden sharp pain just around and above the center right incision that seems to radiate to my back. It doesn't bother me at night when I sleep but it gets worse as the day goes on so I am doing very little standing .. just sitting on the couch a lot. GP sent me for an abdominal ultrasound and blood work today as she suspect gall bladder pain. Surgery was just on Nov 21! Had an abdominal ultrasound before the surgery and no sign of stones. I have no fever and no nausea, just the pain. Very discouraging. Was hoping to return to work this week. Now I fear another surgery. This sucks!

What was the result of the ultrasound from today? Sorry that you don't feel your best and I hope thst improves shortly.

I'll bet $100 it's your gallbladder. Those are classic GB symptoms.

Had the same problem 10 days post-op. Three weeks later, my bariatric surgeon removed my gallbladder.

I bounced back pretty fast after the second surgery. Just got a few more scars (4).

Don't dread it, because if it's your gallbladder, it's got to come out. Just do it.

Hope all goes well...you may want to be a bit more active...walking, sometimes can give you some relief...if it's gas...good luck

I ended up with a kidney stone 2 weeks post surgery on my right side. Was very painful, had them before, but nothing like this one. On the way to have a CT scan done, felt a twinge on my left side. Sure enought, found kidney stones in my left kidney also.

Not saying it was from the surgery I had, no telling how long they had been there, but to have stones on both sides just 2 weeks post surgery was not fun. Just had the stent removed on the right side yesterday and that was another very painful experience.

Well, I do feel better today. Have been more active. Wearing the binder very tight. My GP said that my blood work and my abdominal ultrasound were fine, so apparently no gall stones. (Not surprising since I had one done 6 weeks ago and that was also fine.) I still feel a twinge occasionally but I am wondering now if it isn't something involving the abdominal muscles or the scar. Thanks for your good wishes. Jury is still out on what this is or whether it will just go away on its own. Plan to see my surgeon next week, either way.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
