how long is the Gastric Sleeve surgery ?

Recommended Posts

my surgery was about and hour and 45mins to about 2hours, including prep I believe. It seemed like it went by so quick. I was nervous as heck. They took me to surgery. About 5-10mins later I passed out. Woke up in another area, a few nurses asked me how I was feeling. I remember looking around drowsily and then as they wheeled me to my room I passed back out. Woke up prob an hour or 2 later. It was like it didn't even happen but damn that pain especially the first day was a good reminder it did! Lol!

Mine was quick...Doctor said because I did so good with pre-op my surgery was only 30 minutes compared to the usual 90 minutes. That was 2 days ago. Doing great!!

I had my surgery 11/19/15 -- My surgeon initially told me 2.5-3 hours....but I was out in 1.5 hours.

The surgeon has provide a wide time range, to account for any variables encountered while you're in surgery.

Mine was just about an hour. I went in at 11 and don't remember anything until 4 pm that afternoon.

My surgery was at 8 am and I was in a room by 11:30ish. Doc told me the actual surgery time was about 2-2 1/2 hours.

My surgery today. .. I went back to the surgical room at 6:45 and the dr was done and talking with my husband by 8:15. The surgery was about an hour, the rest was preop time. I was home (45 mins) away by 4:00. No complications, thank goodness!

My surgery including hiatal hernia repair was about an hour with an additional 2 hours in recovery.

Mine was 2 hours but i also had my gallbladder out at the same time and my surgeon had to work around mesh from a previously repaired hernia. So I have 7 incisions instead of the usual 5.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
