Hi, I just found this forum so forgive if I go over something that has already been discussed.

Do most of you wear a medic alert Bracelet while biking? I was concerned about medics knowing that I have a lap band when I bike it so I got a purple medic alert band.

My wording says "Adj. Gastric Band - Abdominal Port - No blind NG"

I stole that wording from the Lapband forum on the subject.

http://stores.ebay.com/medical-alert-bands if anyone is interested.

And I do about 10-15 miles on the weekends when I can get someone to watch my daughter. 3-4 miles per evening when I have her. She has a three-wheeler that goes pretty slowly (she is 13 with autism) and she does about 1/2 mile and I do about 3-4 around her while she is doing her 1/2 mile.

We got quite a bit of rain in Dallas, but we did not get high winds or much damage. My folks, who live in the same town as Stephanie got even less rain, but maybe more wind.

Hi Susan! I think some us have the RoadID bracelet/anklet/medallion with similar information. I ordered mine a while before being banded, and it has some emergency contact info/blood type/diabetes info. I need to update mine with band / no blind NG information.

i actually dont wear one, but most likely should.

I am glad you didnt get damage Mike. We had awful winds here today, with gust up to 75mph....needless to say....No riding for me!!!! No power either...been off since 11.

trying to do homework..kind of hard to do when your stuff in ONLINE>

and welcome Susan. I have a friend who has a 15 year old son who is also autistic. You are a strong woman and I think it is great you are using the band to get healthy.

Well chicas, I've added a mountain bike to the collection. The LBS had a 2008 Trek 3700 on sale for about $100 off retail, so I snagged it. I rode it around the parking lot, and it fit much better than the Trek hybrid I had last year -- it's the next size up. Should have tried the next larger size last year. Oh well, live and learn.

I'll take it to the park tomorrow night for a ride on the trails.

Hi my friends. I am here for my weekly check-in.

I have read all of the posts I missed out on. I miss you all!!!!

I got a good 32 mile ride in on Saturday. I am still running twice a week, and may bump it up to three times a week. I am doing about 2.4 miles at a time. It is hard, but I kinda like it. A little bit. Not really, but I am trying to talk myself into it.

Hey gang!

I'm just stopping by to say Hi too! I'm done losing weight for a while it seems. I got my big victory with the 50 pounds and now there's nothing. I'm going to the gym more, I'm sore and I'm stressed. I'm not eating good the last few days and I don't know why! I'm sure it will come back, but for now I'm bummed that my celebration was so short lived!

Hope everyone is doing okay.

GDMF site - I wrote a nice long post, and the page refreshed and "poof" it was gone...

Let's try again....

C - Stick with it, you'll get there. 50 ponds in 5 months is awesome progress! I saw an article once that described why we stop losing from time to time, even when we do things right. It made sense at the time, but that didn't make it any easier...

For the first time since I started traveling in the spring, i rode a bike, outside. Also the first time I've ever done any trails on a bike. Oopha, that's a lot of work. Grass and bumpy terrain make for a lot more resistance. According to the HRM, i burned more calories on a 3ish mile ride today than I would have on a 15-mile road ride on the recumbent...

Anyway, thought I'd share.

Hope everyone is having a good evening....

B, trail riding is MUCH harder and more like doing weights.....I like it, but love road biking....unless redneck retards flip me off driving toward me in a really big truck...then I like the trails

Hey carol...I posted this on another site so I will copy and paste it here so you can see you are not alone. I am working out with biking, yoga, walking and weights and i am just frustrated too..

So I went to the dr. today and he told me to take my scale away until I see him next month. He wasn't happy that I had only lost 2 pounds this month and I told him I wasn't either. I told him I am keeping a food journal and making sure I stay between my 800-1200 calories a day, I am exercising and told him how frustrated I was with the lack of weight loss. He told me just to keep it up and hopefully I will see progress next month, I think I am a little hormonal bc that was not the answer I was looking for. I left pretty upset...I dont know...gotta love a womans TOM.

So I will keep at it and hopefully I will see results soon... Oh and he didnt want to add anything to my band today so I have the same ol same ol

I think we are heading to the campground near by this evening and ride our bikes in to take a shower. We are also going to try and do laundry somewhere as well. This is yuck. I cant imagine how people did it for weeks and weeks.

Hi gang.

We've been dealing with the effects of Ike in Central Ohio.

The winds blew down power lines and knocked over many many trees. Personally, my power at home was out for 7 hours. But where I work it's off. The kids had already been shipped to the school, we fed them yesterday and sent them home. We moved the contents of walkin in freezers and coolers to our sister school which has a back up generator.

My daughter is off school and we are home.

It's a mess.

And hi Seebs. -She's a Columbus gal too-

B, rock on with the new bike.

C and L The weight will move, it does, it always moves if you keep at it. I know it's a pain in the butt. Sorry for your frustration.

Juli

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
