Just ran. Sprinted the last 3 minutes. OMFG. I'm sweaty!

Going to pick up the kid, going to Whole Foods for dinner party food and dinner. Kiddo loves to eat there...who'd a thunk.

Kisses all.

Dropped my bike off at the LBS. He said it would be about $18 to fix the gears and I asked him to add in a water bottle holder and Water bottle, which will be another $15. Lol. Sure, I could do this myself for cheaper, but nah. I'm lazy.

Once I dropped the bike off I planned to drive out to my trail and walk at least 2 miles... but my damn car wouldn't start. After I cussed alot I called a tow truck ($45) and they said it was going to be a 2 hour wait. I just left the key in the car and walked home. I told the tow guy about that and he agreed it was fine. I also called the car shop and told them they'd have a drop off tonight and gave them basic info (my name, #, and what the car was doing) and they will call me in the morning. I walked home - 1/2 mile. Lol. Thank goodness I didn't go to the other LBS I was thinking about - it is about 10-15 miles away! I'd have so called someone to come get me! Haha!

That is how my life goes...

So, I drove a 1/2 mile and had a car and a bike... and i had to walk home because both are going to be fixed. Lol. Ugh.

Went to another required seminar for LapBand today. 3 hours long! Dietician, Nurse, Support Group. Everything was pretty much geared around RNY, but since I was the ONLY LB patient, they mentioned my surgery a few times. The support group was only 3 ppl strong, all RNY. I liked their success stories, that part was pretty cool. Two of them had surgery a few years ago and have already started gaining weight. The other one only had surgery in September so she is still losing. I was surprised to hear how much they said they struggle to keep losing, struggle with their diets, struggle with hunger. All of them said they cheat though, what dumping syndrome feels like and how cold they all are. So now that I've bored you all to death, I want to ask, are any of you cold now? If yes, is it because you are skinny now? or what?

The two 'older' RNY patients picked up exercising, one did a 5k run and the other did a Triathalon. No one addressed nutritional needs of the more intense exerciser. Do any of you change your diet for triaining for events?

Sorry I'm so full of questions!

Firstly I am freezing cold all the time. I turn the thermostat in my office suite up to 82 on a regular basis because the rest of the place is so cold. (You know how cold they keep the OR) which pisses off my coworkers because they are always hot. My hands are cold right now typing. I never used to wear a coat in the winter, even if it was below zero I would jsut wear a hoodie. It was 35 today and i had my winter jacket on. Always cold. I can't wait for summer.

As for the exercising, I eat a ton for a bandster. That's why I am not losing weight right now, because I eat so much. When I am biking in the summer the weight will come off again and that is with eating 1500 calories minimum. It is all about how you plan your meals. I eat every 2.5-3 hours and try to have some portien at every meal. Now these are not giant meals but stil more food than most bandsters eat. I would rather eat more and exercise more than eat less. I like food.

BG: Thank you for your input. Yes, I wondered about the cold. I am always hot...even in the OR! Everyone else is complaining and I find it a relief to be in there! I was curious if that would change after surgery...kinda hope it does. I'm tired of being hot. It doesn't feel "girlie" to be hot all the time and not wear coats!

I asked my doctor about caloric intake when riding. I was told, "well, maybe in 2 years you can be athlete and we'll talk about having more food, but right now you must lose weight and not eat like athlete"!!!!!!! So, I dunno what I can have (other than sugar-free everything according to him) when I'm on a ride (30+ miles).

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
