Mine is this Thursday - starting to get much more nervous now that reality is so close -- not at all questioning my decision -- very much at peace with that -- just the process/surgery and getting thru it all --

Y'all, gonna be fine. Although, the nerves and fear are real....Althrough out the process I kept thinking when would I back out...when we left the house?, when I was checking in?, when the nurse sent me down the hall to pee?, as I walked down the hall my mind was like, you could just keep going! Lol But once I walked myself back down the hall and decided I'm just gonna be honest. I started telling everyone hey I'm nervous. And everyone started being extra nice...I told the nurses, the doctors, the anesthesiologists, they give you something for nerves in the IV. Versed, maybe? I even asked- who's gonna hold my hand????!!! The resident was holding my hand for the 10 seconds it took to fall asleep. The next thing I know, I woke up in recovery. I had a dilaudid pain and could barely stay awake to press it! But it was nice....the first couple of nights are hard, stay in the hospital if you can. Suspend judgment about whether or not it was a good idea until like day 10 and even postpone to the 6 month mark, if you can...lol you are all gone do great!! :-) :-) :-) :-)

How did you all calm your nerves on day before surgery? My surgery is tomorrow, and I'm rushing to finish up some work projects, make sure I'm following all the surgery rules, get my bag packed, etc etc. and I can feel the nerves/anxiety starting to bubble up -

Well I had to do hemo dialysis, and that makes me really tired. So I was really too tired to worry all day lol. I also gave a lot of peace so that also helps too. Sorry I can't give anymore help.... :(

I already had my husband do the freak out only he lost his temper lol.Did it a couple of weeks ago where he was a pissed off man at everything lol. I fussed at him over not fixing something before it broke and he just lost it completely. He yelled about everything being wrong, tried to pull the pity card, etc, so while he was in his tantrum I left to run errands for a few hrs to give him time to cool off, came home and he started again....over Jello. He had told me he wanted some lime jello to eat when I snacked on my sugar free stuff. Well the store didn't have lime so I grabbed cherry, oh boy that started the yelling anew lol. He stormed out and left, he needed to cool off and took a drive. Also stopped at a different store and got his lime jello! Took a few days but he finally admitted he's scared of losing me. Says he knows he shouldn't worry, but can't help it. Also not liking it that he has to leave me at the preop door because he's allergic to alcohol.

Hi there! Ive had done!!!yeah!!

Well..I kept positive thoughts ..thinking of how much itll will change my life...how great I will look...also the tjought of plsying in the park with grandchildren. When I was walked into theatre they was all cheery as I was! As I laid on the operating table..I joked around and its just calmed me....They anticipate nerves..I mean who wouldnt be nervous...I asked questions of basic surgery and ALWAYS talk about how Us redheads are completely different from others with surgery..that we need more painkillers..we bleed more and unfortunately our pain threshold isnt good. We was just all chatting like we was in a coffee shop. As I thought..why get scared..why get nervous...ive waited a long time for this..a long time to be healthy...and enjoy life. X

Day 4 post op (not included Surgery day) Things going pretty good so far. Although my first 2 days were pretty rough. Ended up being dehydrated before surgery started! (But that's for a different post). but now when I look back just a couple days later... those first days are a blur. I'm not regretting it at all! I'm doing exactly what I'm told and things are getting better all the time! Good luck to everyone else who has surgery still pending. And good luck to those of us in recovery!

Hi....mine was 6 days ago and feel real good...Yes I admit the first 48hrs is an endurance but the tip I hope I can give you is ask the surgeon to expel the gas from your belly before you wake up.....IT REALLY HELPS! Yes I still had trapped wind...but due to them helping by taking out alot of it i didnt spend my time in hosp in agony. Getting used to sipping is new experience as so used to gulping down for years. You hear your stomach gurgle! Haha. Take all meds pre and post op...so important. The feeling of "tightness" and a feeling of swallowing a hard object on the chest ......normal ! That subsides.GOOD LUCK!! XX.

OK I'm 5 days post op and let me tell you about my ride lol. When I was on the operating table and had everyone going around me like bees in a jar lol. Then I "wake"/up but oh my gosh I'm soooooooooo tired all I can do is sleep! My left side hurts the most as that is where one of the cuts is in the muscle. Wasn't able to go potty on my own till day 5 post op and I've been having a lot of diarrhea but has been told that that is very normal lol. So today, there pain isn't really bad going to try to get me off o2 so I can go home, have to seriously make an eating schedule and stick to it, I just want to get the most out of this and want to be doing EVERYTHING I'm supposed to be doing!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
