  • MisforMimi That's great! I love hot tea, it's been my drink of choice for 20+ years (not a coffee person). I was worried I wouln't be able to tolerate it afterwards. hopefully I'll be like you!! although I'm told that hot or cold beverages arent good for a new stomach. so more like lukewarm???
...I hope I can have hot drink after my op....as I do enjoy a good cup tea/coffee...even if its decaf...oh Next week is my op.

I came home from the hospital on Friday, so 2 1/2 days on IV fluids. I have been meeting my daily required, walking, Water, Protein and Vitamin and nothing else. I've gained 15 pounds!!! They told me it was normal but I haven't seen anyone else mention gaining. I have lost 5 of it, but still holding on to 10, please tell me I'm about to see a crazy huge drop!

Begin Again, I was on IV fluids for 4 days- 1/15, 16, 17 and 18 (discharge day)

It is really to help against dehydration those first days when intake is such a challenge. Someone warned against getting on the scale when you get home on this site. It all came out in the wash when I weighed on my week out 'surgiversary' and I was down 7.5 pounds. It will come off soon. Hang in!

Thank you for all your replies about hospital weight gain. That makes me feel a lot better, another 5 disappeared today, fingers crossed the last 5 will be gone tomorrow.

Jkpizano5, glad to hear you made it through fine and are feeling OK. I'm still gassy too but the Gas-X strips do seem to help. My doc said I could take them but he didn't think they would make a difference. Maybe it's all in my head, but it feels like they do.

Two more days and a wake up till my surgery date!! My husband is starting to freak out. Cause all he is thinking about is the possibility of my not making it through the surgery! I keep telling him I've had other surgerys and have been fine, but now making me kinda nervous lol. (Big breath in and out)

Thin-for-kidney- my husband did the same thing, I listened to his concerns and decided to go forward with the surgery. I don't know what's the best decision for you, but just know what you are both feeling is normal.

Thin-for-kidney.....me to..I have 2 more sleeps then go to the hospital. Im starting to think of slight negative things but I think its just human nature....we all think this way. We are all in good hands. And cant wait to then come home a new person.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
