Actually... most of us had surgery in Canada! You've wandered into the part of LBT where the Canadians dwell!!! hehe Honest mistake, and you're new, we'll let it slide. Welcome to LBT!

(you can tell where you are by checking at the very top of the page, it'll say something like so: LapBandTalk.com - Lap Band Talk Forum - The largest forum for Lap Band Discussion and Lap Band Support > Local Lap-Band Support Groups > Canada Local Lap-Band Support )

From every thing Dr. Rumbaut website has explained and from talking to Brigitte his patient coordinator, you shouldn't ever be able to see where the port is. After a lot of weight loss you may be able to feel it, but you shouldn't be able to see it. That's in Mexico though. Did you guys have surgery stateside? I'll ask Brigitte again to be sure.

hmmmm....sorry to be so brutally honetst...but ummmm....errrr...how shall I put this....that is CRAP!!

I didn't realize I wondered into Canada! LOL I don't want people to be able to see where my port is. That isn't very attractive. Anyway, I'll check with my patient coordinator again. Dr. Rumbaut is the second best in his field, Worldwide.

:) Finally a use for this icon.

Ryan Seacrest voice: "America, you have voted...... Dr. Rumbaut you are the runner up in 2007 Lap band Dr. American idol."

That has got to be the most bizarre statement I have ever heard.

I have a pretty stupid question....

How can you tell if your port has moved or is sideways?

When I feel just under my scare it feels like swelling and a bit hard, I'm just trying to figure out how one would know that it's not where it should be.

not a stupid question Jurema....

"You" won't be able to tell if your port has moved or is sideways. The doctor or a skilled fill nurse would be able to take a very educated guess...but the only "for sure" way to see if there is a problem is under fluro.

I wouldn't worry about it....what you described when you feel under your scar is completely normal!

:( And why would that be? He was trained by the person who invented the band. I think it is quite awesome, for me anyway.:biggrin1:

well, if you don't understand why it is a bizarre statement....(let me count the ways!) it isn't worth it to try and explain it!

Bottom line is that YOU believe it and if that is what is important to you and works for you...then yay.

:paranoid

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
