OMG, please tell me it will stop.

I am 6 days post op. Today I was able to partake of my Protein Shakes. They went in and immediately came out. I wasn't surprised because it happened before the surgery so I was expecting it. What I wasn't expecting was for everything I put in to come out just as fast. When should I expect to have a normal bowel movement?

It might be the type of shake you are using. Almost any powdered shake except powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury goes right through me and some pre-mixed do not work. I can use premier Protein vanilla premixed, but because the reaction can be so bad I am afraid to try any others.

Jij ,

I had the same problem. I could do the EAS carb control chocolate. I think it was because there was almost no suger. I tried a glass of Water downed apple juice and boy that was bad. I added puree last week and started softer stuff this week and it hasnt happened so I think its a mix of healing, adjusting, too much in the sleeve etc..

This stage ofcourse has started to have the opposite effect!!!!

Diarrhea is common in the beginning. Once you start moving up in the stages, you will most likely be back on here talking about Constipation. I had the case of rrhea once I started drinking more shakes.< /p>

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
