Is this a slow start??

Recommended Posts

I was banded 4/13/7. To date I have lost about 13 pounds. I was down 20 pounds but when I went from Clear liquids to full liquids I gained 8 pounds in 1 week and have stayed there for almost a month. I realize that I haven't had my fill yet which I will get tomorrow, but I am pretty disappointed to see that scale frozen on that 238 number when I am eating the way I am supposed to and getting in exercise. Plateau this soon?? I didn't have to diet prior to the surgery so 251 is where I really started.

Any other slow starters out that that have experienced this??:help: Is this a slow start?

Any advice would be deeply appreciated.

251/238/150

It's absolutely not a slow start. It's only been a month since you were banded and this is a time for healing, not weight loss. You're doing great! Your first fill may or may not make that much difference, as everyone is different. You may get good restriction with the first one, or it may take some time to get to your sweet spot. You'll get there, just be patient.

Welcome to bandland and LBT!

I gained 6 lbs when I moved to solids. You will be okay once you get a fill or 2. I remember I took it off fairly quickly after that. Hang in there.

I was told that the time before my first fill was first and formost for allowing my body to heal, to set me up for better results later. Any weight at lost during that time was to be seen as a bonus. So I think you are doing great.

Think of it this way, yes they gave you a great tool. It's just not turned on yet.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Anyone had the TORe procedure? How did it go? How much weight did you loose?

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
