I find that since I had my gastric bypass surgery I have been watching any more food network than I have ever done. And I have been cooking every day.

I do not cook the same way as I did before the surgery. Also, since I cook for one and even a small recipe for 2 servings becomes 4 meals for me, I tend to get bored with the left overs. I have found that I am eating more canned foods (taking a can of Soup and adding canned meat to up the protein) and fresh foods don't last since I can't eat a normal portion.

I do! I was worried I wouldn't since I can eat much but I do! I'm more creative now and I only use the best foods I can find!

I have been cooking almost daily for my husband and daughter. We are all planning out meals for the week and not eating out at all. I have really been enjoying cooking even though I am not eating any of the meals.

I am 4 weeks post op and hope these feelings continue!!

I have always cooked, and last night at dinner it dawned on me why I'm so fat.... I eat AS I cook. I have to taste to season. By the time dinner was done I couldn't even eat with them. I was already full! Where before I would still fill my plate and eat with them. So I need to learn to QUIT eating as I cook ????????????

I used to love to cook and bake before surgery, but not so much, anymore. I don't do it as often, either. I had to give up my preoccupation with food in order to succeed at weight loss with my sleeve. Thinking about, purchasing, preparing and serving food used to be a huge part of my daily life. It took a lot of energy to do that, and I just don't have the willpower to resist it. I try to keep no junk in my house, and I limit the amount of things to choose from so that I am not tempted.

I didn't like cooking pre-op, and I still don't.

I have been an avid baker and home cook for as long as I could remember. I was afraid I wouldn't enjoy it anymore but I still do. I've been doing a lot of baking recently since it's that season but I haven't even been tempted to try any of my creations. Cooking is just as fun. Since my surgery, my taste buds have changed drastically so it's like re-discovering a whole new world.

I love to cook from scratch and that probably won't change. I enjoy new recipes and trying to make new things. I have already found myself looking for healthier substitutions and new things to try once I am able to move beyond liquids. My love of cooking is evolving, but I am sure it won't go away.

I think I enjoy in more now! I live alone, so I've had to learn to adjust recipes even when planning for left overs, but today, I can afford quality over quantity so I don't have guilt over making food exactly how I like it, (real eggs, real butter, the occasional desert etc). No my cholesterol has not gone through the roof, (quite the opposite, in fact, I used to take a statin pre-op and need nothing now), no I don't gain weight as long as I exercise and don't over eat. If I feel like baking to get one or two Cookies, I just make sure someone else, (the boyfriend or the office) is the recipient of the left overs!

I still enjoy cooking very much. Especially, the prep work which has a calming effect on me. It's odd to me, but I'm not interested in the same kind of food that I was before the surgery. I expected to be in mourning but I'm not. Reading labels, tracking and weighing everything has totally changed the way that I see food. I'm excited about some great clean and Paleo recipes that I've saved for future use. ..now if the rest of the household were excited. .....

I love cooking now too! Funny thing is I didn't really enjoy it too much before. I am also watching way more food shows now. I feel like I am becoming a "feeder". I can't have it but want everyone else to enjoy it.

I'm glad I'm not the only person still enjoying cooking! I have cooked all my dishes for Thanksgiving tomorrow and baked a pineapple upside down cake.. I can't eat it but I can smell it...lol

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
