Had a revision done on my band....also had a hiatal hernia

Anyone have this done?

Was 113 lbs I'm 5'5" not good....

I'm up to 131 but that's because of Water and swelling from surgery

Dr said my body needed water so bad it's holding on to it.

After first of yr I will have to start to gain weight...

Anyone want to mentor

Any advice would help

Thank u

Why was a revision needed and exactly what was done?

BTW, what's wrong with 5'5 and 113lbs??? Sounds attractive to me.

You said yourself it's post op Water retention, etc.

Well band slipped....again.

Not sure how he fixed it but he pulled the slip where it needs to go and sutured it.

Hopefully a slip won't happen again

At 5'5" and 113 lbs was a problem....combined with being very dehydrated at not being able to keep anything down and about passing out at Dr's office....

I also had a hiatal hernia. Dr repaired it when he did the lap band surgery. He said it had to be repaired in order to be able to position the the band properly

Same with me @@stanpry . I have heard that the band can cause some people to have heartburn, reflux, etc, but since I had the lap-band and hiatal hernia repair, I have had NO heartburn! Yea!

@@tw42 good luck with the revision!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
