I was sleeved on 11/4/14. I am feel like I am doing well. Getting my required 75 to 85 grams of Protein and at least 54 ounces of fluids each and every day. I moved to the pureed/mashed phase on Wednesday and ever since I feel very light headed/dizzy when I walk or drive. Anyone else experience this? And if so, how long does this normally last? Thanks!

My NUT and physician don't recommend counting calories at this early stage yet. I am just focused on making sure I eat enough Protein and stay with sugar free items

I'm not suggesting you count calories for weight loss sake, I'm asking because if you aren't getting ENOUGH calories.... you could be dizzy and weak ;)

+1 on the calories. That could be an issue. Definitely something to talk to your nutritionist about.

I got really dizzy when standing once I went back to work. I think it was slight vertigo from being horizontal a lot during recovery! I never asked my doc about it but my calories are good so idk?

Thanks for the replies! I was talking to my mom today and I am on a pretty high dose of blood pressure medicine, so I am wondering if maybe I am having bouts of hypotension. I am going to start charting my blood pressure and see if that is what it is. If not, I think i will call my doc. It makes trying to get exercise miserable!

I'm not sure if tis makes sense but I did lye down a lot during recovery. It will pass in time I am going into my 6th week and only experience dizziness once I returned to work last week. It only lasted a minute or two though.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.
