Hi everyone I'm Jasmin from Israel, and I'm very new to this group. I had my surgery this sunday November 16th.

A week before surgery I was 235 ils and now I'm 217 so not so bad. In the two days since I joined this forum I've read so much and learn so much from you guys so I just wanted to say thank you and good luck for all of us. J

I think the pic with you walking with the IV and showing the victory sign is cute :)

we alllll have to be brave to ride this roller coaster

ups and downs - but hopefully all ends up good :)

glad you've been reading, learning from the board

Thank you all! Ur defiantly welcoming ;) you know what I have a quick question what is the American minimum BMI you have to be to go through surgery? Here is 40

But then again I'm not even sure if you calculate your BMI same as we do because we do it with kilos so can someone tell me how does it work?

@@jasminnegrin 35 with co-morbids 40 without....at least for my insurance company but some can vary...and if you go out of the U.S. (Mexico) I don't know if they are as strict

You don't have to have a certain bmi if you are a self pay.

You just have to have a surgeon who will do the surgery for all the right reasons.

In Dallas it's weird but the radio ads for WLS say if you are 50 pounds overweight then surgery might be for you.

I was self pay with a low BMI and trying to get my weight issues under control once and for all. My labs were a mess and I had a hernia and ulcers on my stomach.

I made an informed choice after consulting with ALL of my doctors and doing a lot of research.

Not sure I get that. Or at least I hope I didn't get it

Jasmine the loser's bench is a good thing. Now that you've had your surgery, you will be losing weight. A loser. We're all losers. But that's a good thing!

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
